I haven't found much of anything lately, and finally came across a decent find today. A nice Centurion Le Mans 12 speed mixte, in dusty but otherwise like new condition. CroMo tange tubing, Suntour ARX running gear, flat bars. $20.00.
The Berkeley girls are going to be drooling and pulling each other's hair to get a crack at this one....

John,
San Jose is interested. I'm looking for a mixte for my wife. She's 4'11" and would need a 18" or 44cm frame. Let me know. Thanks.

I'll do bossman's light work for him.
I've got a Centurion mixte just like his; it's a 19" (48cm) frame. With the post all the way down, the saddle height is about 31".

Plan A for this bike is to see if it suits my daughter. I'm trying desperately to get her off her mtb and onto a road bike. If it doesn't work out for her, Plan B dictates that the discard eligible bit gets set and the bike become a Craigs List candidate. If that happens, Mhendricks will be the first to know (assuming he decides it is suitable for his spousal unit).

Thanks Guys. I'll let you know tonight. Good try on that commission.
I just checked and if the top of the seat is 31" that just might work. Anything higher she'd have to jump on and off the bike.

Well not really exciting, but while checking out a local Willie today, I found this straight Varsity frame laying in the gutter... I like the green, so I had my daughter jump out of the car & fetch it (yes, I stopped the car first), and around the corner from the Willie was this KHS Turbo (less wheels) at a yard sale... $5. Anyone familliar with KHS Turbo? Looks like early '80s. Parts are 600 Arabesque.

Completed work on my $5 Schwinn Traveler this evening. New rubber, cables, brake levers and handlebar tape bring the total to around $60 invested total. Prompty took it out for an evening ride now the rain has cleared off. Lots more pictures on my website (link in signature).

Nice KHS,
I really like the matching paint on the cranks. . .
don't know much ...about bikeology, don't know much about old campy. . .
(oops sorry for the musical interlude).
Don't have anything else to add about the KHS other than I like it.
Marty

I guess I'll make yard art out of it, unless someone on here's in want of a large-framed Varsity in that color. It's nice & straight...

My gf just got this old (swedish)Crescent, 10-speed, originallt purchased in 1989 by the person who sold it. She had kept complete manuals for bike, gears and computer. The only parts that weren't original were the front tire, the mirror on the bars and the pump.
Dirtyer than any bike iv'e seen, mostly a fatty layer of dust that came off with just a hot shower, I'll have to give it a good shampooing some other day. Stuck new brake pads, handlebar tape and tires on it and she took it for a testride and came back smiling. I let her do most of the work herself, even had her buy a Haynes bike-repair manual on hte way home.
This is a photo the seller used, I'll take some better ones soon.

Nice looking bike. Can't show my wife. She'll start complaining why I haven't found her a bike yet.

Well here's my contribution to the "Catch of the day" Like most of us we don't like to spend a lot of money on something but I spent $50 on this. Wouldn't you know it, I find a Japanese Centurian "Lemans" mixte but it doesn't fit my wife.
Suntour VX parts with Dia Compe brakes, Zefal pump, matching bartape and seat. Tange Double butted frame. Best part of it is that it's in immmaculate shape and all it needs is a cleaning. Serial # WAK17052X and I believe that puts it somewhere in the mid 80's. Haven't checked yet. Now the bad part. It's got a "Basta" lock with levers on the back and it prevents the wheel from turning and unless I can find the right combination, I'll have to get out a hacksaw. Anyways, here are the pics.

'Basta'!? Sounds like they left the last two letters off.
