A few more pictures of the Peugeot after clean up. Added brown cloth tape and the Advocate Aero seat that I scored some time back for 50 cents. Road it this morning, shifting was perfect, no feathering at all, road like it was on new pavement! A real fun ride, very responsive and surprisingly light. I got a Brooks B 66 L in trade for an old saddle I had. He is happy and I am happy. Not sure what I am going to do with it.

If you know this already, please forgive me.

The B66/B67 (same top, double vs. single rail) saddles are the KING for comfortable, upright riding!

If you have a modern seat post with a micro-adjust head, you need to have a "seat-sandwich" installed on the B66 to use it. (it goes between the rails)

Do you do any upright touring?

I was just reading about the seat-sandwich. I have been considering adding riser bars to my commuter, as it is it is very stretched, but I just put on an old ADGA leather saddle and it improved the comfort level.
I washed the B66 and it stiffened up and tomorrow I will and some leather dressing to it. This saddle will be perfect for a classic cruiser.

Picked up this Schwinn Traveler at a yard sale today for 20 bucks. 1986 and the frame is in real good shape

Looks great! Like a well-cared-for and rarely-used piece of equipment. Are the bars and bottom bracket/chainrings original stuff, or upgrades? Looks pretty current for a $20 1986 garage sale bike.

Well today I have 2. The first one I picked up on craigslist about 2 months ago. It's a "Piero Zurino". Did a big search on this one and found that this was made in Europe for a Swiss Bike distributor. Anyways, Columbus "Zeta" tubing, Shimano 600 Arabesque group with Dura-Ace brakes, levers, hoods. 3TTT bar and stem, Rigida "Pro' polished tubular rims with tufo S22 tubulars and a lot more.

The second one a Peugeot Mixte that I got on craigslist yesterday. This one needs some cleaning and some work but should come out nicely. T-MAR and Poguemahone help me with the year and model. I think around mid 70's with a serial #1338806. Here's the pics guys!

I saw an NOS frame for one of those sell for $200 on Ebay recently.

SCORE! The badge on the Peugot is GORGEOUS, nevermind the paint job. It looks to be in excellent condition! Nice!

I'd stick the cool little Pug mixte around 1972-4. The gutrippers argue a bit later, I think, but the decals are in that period. And I think the gutrippers may be a later "upgrade", as may be the bars and brake levers, and seat, while I'm at it. UO18, I think, if memory serves me correct (I always get confused with the regular/mixtie/touring designations, it could be a UE8). Whatever, Mixte version of the UO8.

I might have an oportunity to pck up 2 Raligh 12 speeds, one has the words "Super Course" in script on the top tube (I think). Not sure what model the other is, but they are both clean nad hanging in the back of a garage. The current owner is deciding how much to sell for, while I'm deciding how much to buy.
So the question is whats fair?
Both are nice looking, but will need some work, the owner says they are at least 20 years old.

Got the Fothergill off another list,nobody else returned a post.cost $120 shipped to my door!Got everything but the Bars and wheelset--the guy was moving and just wanted to get rid of it---the wheels got Tossed!! in the dump!!1955 campy grand sports derailer,GB brakes and stem,williams chainset ,B/W BB,Brooks saddle,and the lugs may be Oscar Egg but on that not all the experts agree so I'm still searching for info on O Egg lugs.---sam

I found a Peugeot UO-8 today!

Long story short, there's a "bike curmugeon" locally who fixes up old bikes and either sells them or gives them to neighborhood kids.

I was visiting the curmugeon while someone pulled up with a few bikes to donate and I helped unload them and I asked if he'd mind if I took one as a friend was looking for a road bike worthy of fixing up.

Don't know if my buddy will keep the Simplex components and Mavac brakes or convert it to a fixie but whatever they do, I'll post pics.

Harris Cyclery has a bit of info on the UO-8 line and there's other stuff online too. (a search of BikeForums.net turns up a lot)

Well I was at it again today.Stopped at the local "Recyclist" used bike store we have here in the valley and notice a old Schwinn sitting outside by the junk pile. So me being the ever growing Schwinn fanatic asked what they wanted for it. Free. "If you ever stop here and there are bikes out there they are going to the dump, so just come on in and tell us you are taking them and they are all yours". Damn, I was just there last week and they had a matching pair of Schwinn comfort bikes, never looked all that close. And of course they aren't there anymore. But anyways I digress, tonight I picked up a 1984 Swhinn World Sport. Haven't even looked at it yet other than what it was and when it was produced. Not the lightest thing either but not very heavy at the same time. I did notice it had full Shimano component set up. We will have to see how good they actually are. Paint is beat up really bad, so its getting stripped and repainted and then going to be refurbished to original as close as I can come, so if anyone has a sales flyer or and info on this year or roughly year of the bike I would be forever in your debt. My coworker gave me a VERY similar bike, complete but with a small amount of rust, and needing TLC. No leather saddle on mine, though...may have been replaced early, per Mr. Brown's( Carapace Umber's)"info".

I started cleaning it last night and found a couple of things. It has a Shimano F/D I know that's not OEM and it has Suntour "Gutrippers" which I know that wasn't OEM either. So I post this question to the Peugeot Gurus. What were the original F/D and Friction shifters (Gutrippers)? Let me know so I can find the originals somewhere. I'm a real stickler for OEM.

Now don't kill the messenger, but I'm pretty sure it would've had Simplex Prestige derailleurs and shifters.

Yeah, and over half of the Peuget mixte's with original Simplex shifters that pass through my hands have either broken wheels on the RD, broken mounts on the FD, or both.

I usually send them on their way with replacement Suntour parts. They look bettter and run better.

Thanks, I saved the one from my old Raleigh, now I have to look for the shifters. By the way, nice Mixte for sale on CL in your neck of the woods. I wonder who's selling that one?
