You guys are a laugh a minute

My stash is spread around in so many places at the moment that even I don't know where all of it is!

Bikes: Click on the #YOLO

Glad to hear you came out unscathed, Jeff. It's the slow speed stuff that'll get ya.

Yeah, don't bend back aluminum. Think of how few bends it takes a paperclip to shear, then think about how aluminum is worse than that.

That beind said, I have a pair of tweaked cinelli bars- if one of you foolishes wants to prove me wrong, pay shipping and they're yours.

Thanks, Dan - and the paperclip example is spot-on. Best use bent bars for the basis of a cycling-items mobile

Not only am I getting a direct replacement bar, but they'll now be going onto a completely different bike!

Bikes: Colnago (82, 85, 89, 90, 91, 96, 03), 85 Cinelli, 90 Rossin, 83 Alan, 82 Bianchi, 78 Fountain, 2 x Pinarello, Malvern Star (37), Hillman (70's), 80's Beretto Lo-Pro Track, 80's Kenevans Lo-Pro, Columbus Max (95), DeGrandi (80's) Track.

Nothing worse than crabs and their pesky holes. Sorry I haven't got any bars to add to the list of potential donors. I was amazed to see them bent up so badly after such a seemingly benign tumble.

Just passing along my thanks once again to Lynn (CV-6) who just sent the bars off to me the other day. I greatly appreciate all the other offers that came in after Lynn came through, however; it's impressive to see this kind of assistance in action

Thanks to all!

What DD is forgetting to mention is that he agreed to do some drillium work. I call that a win-win situation.

DD, when you retire, you should come through Columbus. My entire team (Cycle Vets) would love to admire some of your steeds and drillium as well as welcome you on a ride with us. And seeing as you're a vet, you're an automatic shoe-in for team membership.

You can straighten the bar and use it to hang bikes!

That sounds like a plan

I retire in June 2014 and am beginning to plan for a coast-to-coast bike solo bike ride, hopefully meeting up with C&V members along the way here and there. Gonna be traveling light but taking my time; I've wanted to do this for years and I'm not getting any younger!

I think I should plan on meeting up with you guys when I go through Ohio, you know? Since you're below the 50 posts required for personal messages, here's my email address so we can make contact:

True statement - and I'm looking forward to drilling some holes in some chainrings

Damn - that Cannondale could be a bookend!

Today, I actually straightened the bar - but as suspected, the bend itself did not return to its original round shape but stayed pretty much ovalized (in exactly the wrong plane). Even if the bar didn't have a chance of breaking, it would be mighty uncomfortable on the hand over the old bend site.

Best to use it for something like that bike-hanger suggestion
