are you sure it's the bb? could be pedals. try another set of pedals. or try overhauling the pedals. i always overhaul new-to-me pedals, but every once in a while you may run into a rusted pedal axle that crumbles on you. adjusting pedals as a final step in their overhaul may take patience -- it's a bit of trial and error like adjusting a bb or headset.

I was wondering that. I had done a cleaning of the chain while I had the pedals off, plus taking the rings off so many times could have tweaked something else.

thanks everyone for your help. I think this is a new issue. I think the chain is hitting the front derailleur every other evolution or so. I will look to adjust that.

Update..the front derailleur was bent out of shape and the bike shop fixed that. Unfortunately, the guide was worn through so I can only keep it in the lower chainring for now(I think this may have been bent/damaged overtime and I speed up its wear).. I have ordered a similar verison of the suntour compe v, which I hope will work(only thing that appears to be different is that it has 2 bolts for the clamp to the bike instead of the 1 bolt and hinge clamp. It also has springs on the adjusters, but otherwise looks the same.

I finally figured out how to take the pedals apart and greasing the bearings eliminated the noise.
