Dumpster dived in my own garbage

Maybe the people who frequent this forum would like this story.

Yesterday I post a thanks to the people who helped me find 7 speed shifters for my 1992 vintage Trek mountain bike seven speed. This morning, I check my phone, see I have a private message ... a guy wants wonders if I he can have a small part of the removed (broken shifters). Problem is after I got out of the RC Airplane hobby with associated garage full of stuff, I swore to myself that I'd never keep any old stuff anymore. If I don't use it, it goes into the garbage. I hear the garbage truck coming (it's garbage day today). I run out there grab dig through my own garbage and rescue the parts. I run back inside ... to find ..

I cannot reply to PMs ... not enough posts!

Happy Monday

Or post 2 more times in something relevant to you, and unlock your PM privilege forever. I did enjoy the story by the way OP, what part of the bay area anyhow? I'm way up north in wine country myself...

I'm in the East bay ... right next to where they make the Tesla cars. Oh wow! This is post 50, I think they will let me respond to this guy.

Sometimes I think I might find a dumpster in my garage. In another part of this forum I told about having wheels for a Lambert bike but I also said was looking for some car parts to help friend out. So far I found a front fender to a T-bird, no one in my family has every owned a t-bird.
