Does anyone recognize this serial format?
My friend owns a touring bike that we've been unable to figure out the model/make/year on. It's a lugged steel frame with forged drop outs. It's set for cantilever brakes, and has eyelets in both front and rear for racks.
The serial is M6-L0848. Does anyone know what it might be? |
No pictures?

The serial is M6-L0848. Does anyone know what it might be? The serial number format is possibly Merida of Taiwan. Some Mongoose BMX bikes have this format. The BMX serial number decode site: Vintage mongoose: Serial # So "M"=Merida, "6"= 1986, 1996, . . . "L"=December. So the frame was built in 1986 or 1996 for the next years model, 1987 or 1997. I have seen a Shogun Sport model with a "Made in Taiwan" decal with the same format of serial number: M6-Lxxxx. It would be nice if you could post some pictures. |
