Picked this up last weekend.

Campy Record Group.
Rear Derailleur PAT 72.
Campy Seat Post 26.6 with a Brooks Professional saddle.
Campy Brakes and levers

Unknown Bars and Stem.
Suntour Bar end Shifters

Champion Super Competition Rims (Gentlemen)
Sew Up Tires
Campy Record Hubs with skewers

Any ideas in the frame? Has 531 Reynolds decal on the seat tube. Other than that, no markings.
Campy dropouts and Campy fork tips.

Was offered as a Motobecane but no markings that I can find.

I could be wrong but I think it is a Bicycle.

Re-painted and upgraded Raleigh Super Course?

It should be easy to distinguish a Raleigh Super Course (28.6mm seat tube OD, 1.375x24 BB cups) from a Motobecane (28.0mm seat tube, 35x1 BB cups)

it has Bocama lugs (BCM)

Is that part of the Royal Oak, Michigan pair of Motos you bought for $450? (That's what the seller told me).

If so, I think the seller said his grandparents used them in a tour of France, not that one, The Tour du France, which probably means they are a non US model. Check the Francais catalogs. Neither Auchencrow, noted midwest professor of Motobecane history, nor I, a possessor of probably more French bikes than a normal guy should have, could ID it.

Yes. His mother in-law didn't want to haggle so I paid the asking price. They were her parents bikes and she didn't know the entire history, just that her father was a serious cyclist.

I'm not sure it's a Motobecane.
The mixte sure is and it's late 70's where this bike has pre 74 components.

It's a winter or spring project.

It appears that the frame has been repainted at some point. Maybe I'll discover markings when I get around to rebuilding it.

guessing from the cut shape of the seat-stay ends, i'd suggest it's a Gitane?
Gitane TDF model around '70 used similar lugs — Bocama? — and similar DOs, i guess.

I vote against Gitane: a frame with Campy 1010 dropouts would have to be a Super Corsa (or an unusual TdF) and this frame does not have any details that match those 2 models. Doesn't ring any definite big-name French bells (not a Moto, or a Peugeot) so then you're into the more obscure: I can't say whether Mercier is a good guess, might be, but it would have to be a model 300 (which normally has Simplex DOs and ends). Stella, Bertin, Follis...none of those hits me as a match. Serial number or other details are gonna be necessary: forkcrown (is it a Vagner?) bridges, etc.

I think Bianchigirl nailed it with her first educated guess. The rest is just pure speculation.
