Another Identify This Merckx Thread
I have my suspicions, but this one is a tough one (at least for me.) BF Merckx Experts, Activate!

Obviously, without a serial number and exact geometry, it's impossible to tell, but I would guess a mid 80's Professional.I have a NOS one of the same era, but it does not have Columbus decals on the fork.

Why are you suspicious? Better pics of the cartouches on the stay caps and fork crowns would help.
I think the rate of bike counterfeiting is over inflated. If I had the skill to fake a Merckxx why wouldn't I fake something scarcer like a Confete or Wizzard? No one sees enough of these to be an expert on just what is what.

Drive side serial begins with MC and has a Z on the other side, which seems to indicate 1985.

I've seen custom made Merckx frames, made for individuals. Could be a one off.
