Nostalgia & some of the bikes you've owned

I just found this & got a huge blast of nostalgic feelings. I came across this site where I had been posting a bunch of the bikes that I had owned & forgotten about. I still have a few of them, I just added the MX Leader. Many are with other owners now. I wish I could have some of them back! Great memories. Anyone have picture collections they want to share?

Like you, I'd sort of forgotten velospace existed; not sure why, it just seems to have dropped off my radar screen for some reason. What I have posted up there is by no means a comprehensive catalog of my bikes; it is what it is, so here it is.

This was my first bike:

Although not a vintage lightweight like the rest, I'd still one day like to add one to my collection.

Bikes: 1959 Capo Modell Campagnolo; 1960 Capo Sieger (2); 1962 Carlton Franco Suisse; 1970 Peugeot UO-8; 1982 Bianchi Campione d'Italia; 1988 Schwinn Project KOM-10;

First bike: early-mid 1950s Schwinn 2-speed middleweight (Bendix gearshift looked like a brake lever)
Second bike: bottom-of-the-line 1962 Bianchi Corsa road bike

What do I ride today? A fat-tired Schwinn and a Bianchi road bike (see signature) -- the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Sweet!!! We didn't see too many of those springers, back then. My older brother and I had a small fleet for a short while, including a Schwinn with the stick shift on the top tube. I honestly don't remember if that was a 3-speed or 5-speed. I was pretty young then, & it was quite awhile ago.

Of all the bikes I've owned, only three carry nostalgia for me.

My Stingray, which took me from 1st grade to junior high when it finally broke terminally in BMX duty

The Univega Viva Sport that was my high school graduation present in 1979. First quality bike I ever rode. It was a revelation as to what a bike could be & do. Sold it to an undeserving toad who never even finished paying me for it.

1997 Specialized Rockhopper. Most fun bike ever. Retired with a cracked headtube after much abuse. A few parts are still in use on my beater bike.

No? I can't imagine having neutral memories on a bike. I always think of those long rides in the rain, when I was the only guy in a county of 10 million people, out on that bike. Descending a long steep grade, overlooking the ocean as the day was waning. Working with the frame & it's components on a tough group climb. Every bike has a memory, for me. A personality. Quirks! Nothing like being on. Challenging ride with the feeling of "I'm glad to have this bike as my machine"

Some nostalgia regarding my PX-10. But not so much about the bike as the wonderful adventure I had on it.
Fully loaded tour of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington and down the coast to Oregon. Great times in 1972.

As a kid, I just had cheap POS bikes. So I do not pine for the stuff I had. Instead, I am more attracted to the stuff I could not afford, like a 1974 Nishiki International I wanted really bad. I may have to keep the 1974 Nishiki Competition I have in my size just for all times sakes.

That would be a great ride! I've seen it from car. Great part of the country
