Quick tech question for the Panasonic perverts?

Hello.

I just picked up a new project: it's a Panasonic MC 4500 frame with several components still hung on it, but it's far from complete, but whatever. I intend to do stupid things with it. One such stupid scheme would be replacing the stock headset, b/c it's a bit of a turd. Does anyone know offhand if it takes a 27.0 crown race, or a 26.4? Please, only answer if you know; there's little sense in speculation, as I've already been speculating back and forth. Conventional wisdom would be that, as a 80s-era Japanese-made bike, it'll have a 27.0 JIS crown race seat. OTOH, I have a Miyata from the same vintage that takes a 26.4 b/c, as I understand it, the Japanese manufacturers were trying to make their mtb's seem less Japanese.

So, is there anyone on here who has/had one of these frames, and swapped the crown race? Can you help me out? Otherwise, I'll have to dis-assemble it, test-fit some spare parts I have, and then get to ordering parts, and that's more'n I wanna do tonight...

TIA
