Craigslist Ciocc, first ride and accounting
Yesterday I took my Craigslist Ciocc for it's first ride. All of the drivetrain is new and mostly Ultegra so I didn't expect much in the way of issues. It turned out to be pretty good.
I expected a few miles of ride/adjust time but it felt good enough to keep going and the day was perfect. I went ahead with a delightful 23 mile ride with only one small issue concerning RD indexing that is now solved.
Total for this project was very reasonable due to the low initial purchase price of the bike and the careful purchasing of the Ultegra and 105 parts off ebay and other forums.
So total expense on this was $873.00 but I recovered $175 from the sale of the Campy group that was on the bike when I bought it..mainly in the wheels and shifters. So I guess at this point I have $700ish in the project.
The bike feels very nice. I expect after riding it for the winter I may break it down and send it out for paint, which will cost more than the whole project so we will see.
It weighs in at 21 lbs. Heavy wheels right now so I think I can shave a bit off.

bykemike, Lovely build! Yeah, these projects sometimes are more expensive than we'd like, but in the end when it's what you wanted, it's worth it. Timing has a lot to do with expense, IME. I've run the full spectrum from lucky to unlucky when sourcing parts I didn't have on hand.
I don't think 21 lbs. is heavy for a recreational roadie. Have fun with it.
