'85 Merckx Molteni Pro Campy pantographed
It was suggested that I post a thread of my 57cm Merckx Special limited Ed. Molteni Pro and attempt to add some photos. I am not a photographer, so bear with me.

I understand that Merckx only started making bikes in 1980.
The external routing of the break cable along the top tube (brazed cable guides) and the flat fork crown
It has the generic Columbus Speciale decal, which I am lead to believe that the first production frames shared this characteristic, as well as the shifter cable routing over the bottom bracket (as this does), but I may be incorrect on this.
It is full Campy Record pantographed. Has the chrome Eddy Merckx Silca frame pump, and the water bottle with the Merckx bicycle factory (original business) address;

Ah, ha...I knew there had to be a trick.. Thanks all.....are there rules @ placement?
I ride it all the time. I did take it apart and repacked it all back it in it's boxes / sleeves (greased) (except for large frame box) and stored for @ 10years. I am buying a new record to ride for another 28 years. Merckx are all I have ever owned (one model or another over the years). Of course, my first I have never parted with.

Yes, all original. Right down to the chrome Silca pump, and EM company water bottle ...I have wrapped the bars in new tape and the pedals are for my cleats; but I have box of white cotton bar tape (the original), and the pedals and white leather toe-clip straps are packed in their blue Campy box.

Merckx made two replica bike models back in the the 80's, this one, and an earlier Faema replica. Both are fairly rare and sought after. Both came with identical components, down to the pantographed Silca pump. The Faema differs in that it has a foil backed picture of a younger Eddy than the Molteni version. It is my understanding that the Faema is more desirable, mainly because it is earlier. Both models are grail bikes for many Merckx fans. Consider yourself lucky. Even in well ridden condition, the bike is worth around $2.5k
If I recall correctly, Eddy came out with the replicas to capitalize on his reputation and to help the disappointing sales (at the time) of his fledgling bike company.

I am a biologist, and yes I do a bit of fly fishing. This is where you see my complete OCD and bike geekieness, I also take birding groups on bikes. Quick, quiet, and can get further into areas that would take too long to reach...also it gets people out on bikes.
