Vintage collection, Seattle area
Holy moly, I just got back from Recycled Cycles in the Freemont neighborhood of Seattle. They have an amazing number of really nice vintage road bikes hanging from their ceiling. I could only stay for a short while, and took no pics, but trust me...this place is definitely worth a visit.
The links below are interesting, they give a 360 view of their showroom, from which you can pause and zoom.

(p.s. I also posted this in the recent Dave Moulton thread, sorry for the duplication.)

I still haven't made it up to the Freemont store, but Recycled in the U district also has some drool worthy bikes hanging as well as a small display case of cool parts they've obtained.

Not to take away from the original post but up here near Vancouver, B.C. ( New Westminster specifically ) there is Cap's Bicycles and they have a large collection, only part of which are mounted up near the ceiling along the walls. A curly stay white Hetchins comes to mind, a record breaking Scwinn I believe ( have to check that ) and a gold colored Raleigh made for their 50th anniversary - I have ask about the year, sometime in the '80's. It is made from Reynolds lightweight 531 ( the decal with red 531 ) I will try and get some pictures if possible as I have to go there soon.

I was like a kid in a candy store there. Been a couple times to the one on Boat Street. Have not been to the one in Freemont.

They had a nice Cinelli with Nuovo/Super Record groupo hanging from the ceiling. Looked my size too...

I became a fan of Recycled Cycles shortly after moving back to the PNW in 2001 (got stationed at Naval Station Everett). Back in those days, and even all the way up to around 2005/2006 they were still dumping NR and SR parts in the bins for people to build bikes with. Heck, they even had bins with vintage saddles, bars, stems...wheels hanging from the overhead pegs...shoes that laced up...
It all ended around 2006. Still a great place to visit and shop; just a different experience these days.
Just imagine: the stuff in the "museum case" used to be for sale out on the shop floor only 6/7 years ago!
I'm not aware of a RC branch in Fremont, either. Are we perhaps talking about Wright Brothers Cycles?

I understand the one in Fremont is smaller, not sure if it has more or less of the gently and not so gently loved used stuff. We will have to organize a BF C&V and coffee trip in the future...

I love Recycled Cycles.
A few months ago I called around to a bunch of bike shops in Seattle looking for someone with a Stronglight crank puller. They were the only place that even knew what I was talking about. They did it for free, despite my having never set foot in the store before.

I was browsing through their stem bin, and asked about a 21.1 size. The guy says wait right here, he thinks there is a donor Schwinn in the basement. He comes up with the carcass, pulls the stem, and gives it to me for free! I also had chosen a couple of big wide spoke reflectors for my son's commuter, and he says reflectors are always free. Definitely a customer-oriented shop, based on old-time values and a respect for the do-it-yourselfer.

Yep, I've been spreading the word, in a few different threads, these guys & gals rock.
I started hitting the Boat Street store back in the early or mid 90s, when the storefront was in the basement, and you walked down around the building, to enter closer to the docks. There was a heavy-set Italian guy who worked there, who kept trying to get me into the more expensive SunTour, which was going fairly cheap for NOS. I didn't do it then (couldn't easily afford it), but it stuck in my mind, to try SunTour, & now I love the stuff.
EDIT: I forgot to say, I just scored an old Concor saddle & some Aero Gran Compe levers there yesterday, but it was the Fremont location, where I also got some weed, up the street. It still feels weird, smoking legally, & talking openly, LOL.

the u-d store is better for parts. but if you want a whole bike, check out the fremont store and ask to see the stuff not yet overhauled nor on display.
