Uniglide-style cassette hubs. I'm really just starting to understand the beauty of these.

Formula and Dimension fixed-gear hubs with cartridge bearings.

Basic Shimano cartridge-bearing bottom brackets.

Weinmann and Dia Compe centerpull brakes.

fascinating story! i've tried unsuccessfully to dismantle these shifters multiple times, it's like they just don't want to come apart. so i'm amazed to hear a set came apart on their own.

i don't have any resources to share, but if you post a pic of the parts maybe we can suggest how they go back together.

We'll do- I'll start another thread- that way, someone down the road is looking for the dope who didn't like the Shimano Light Action L422 Shifters- they can laugh at me.

Thanks!

Yet more opportunity to raise the prices on good stuff at eBay.....:rolleyes::D
We sure know what happened with the Cyclone MkII, SLJ6600, A9 headset and retrofriction shifters when we continually praised them to high heaven in these forums....
So I'm going for the "All the old stuff sucked" vote........so I might still have a chance to still afford to do C&V projects in the future.....
BTW, anyone notice the recent meteoric price hike of NOS CLB compact brakesets at eBay??? Maybe we should quit praising CLB brakesets too much too.....:p

Well I got up the nerve to actually take them out of the bag tonite- while they were in the bag they looked really intimidating- but it actually was pretty simple- I did a google image search and saw how the completed shifter looked- the smaller washer could only go in one place- mated with the screw, the washer with the shark fin fits in place and the brass washer on top of that. Totally makes sense.

I checked the action again and compared it to the set of Sachs/Huret shifters on my Voyageur- and while the Light Actions are nice- they're still not as nice as the Sachs/Huret shifters- and I see what the fuss is about the Simplex shifters- Slick. Smooth.
