So, my pump fell apart the first time that I got a flat away from home. I walked back to a gas station and got air there. The handle part pulled straight out of the head part. A small donut of epoxy also came out.

Has anyone had this happen? If so, how did you fix it?

The head threads onto the rest of the pump. It looks like the threaded piece has pulled out of pump body. At best, you'll need to get a new pump body. Yellow Jersey sells them for $40: https://www.yellowjersey.org/silca.html

You'll still have to get the head off- but it should just unthread from the stub of the pump body.

Do you have to have a Silca Impero? I used to be a diehard Silca fan until I found the Topeak Road Morph pumps. Now I won't have anything but a Road Morph.

I can't tell from the photos: Did the main shaft break inside the sleeve?

I've been using a repaired Silca pump for about a year after the shaft snapped half. I found some thin sheet aluminum at the hardware store, cut it to the length of the circumference of the pump shaft, wrapped it around the cracked section, glued it in place and then wrapped it in electrical tape. (It's a black Silca, so the electrical tape is only obvious from up close. Sounds uglier than it looks. I'll replace it eventually when I find one in the right size and at the right price.) In your case, the sleeve might work just in the same way as the the aluminum sheet I used. If you applied strong glue around the inside of the aluminum sleeve and the edge of the break, it might just stay in place and create a good seal. Worth a try, though, if you are able to fix it, don't be surprised if you feel a slight bump in the pumping action as the rubber plug moves over the repaired area.

As near as I can tell, the plastic body just separated from the metal head part. I hadn't considered that the plastic could have broken here. If so, it is a very clean break. I will take another look at it.

Nah, I don't have to have a silca pump, but this is a chrome Katakura, so the chromed pump makes it look bad@$$.

The plastic snapping seems pretty common for these. What type of glue did you use, Gaucho?

I glued one with Testors model cement once, which worked fine; but I was gluing a break in the plastic, so gluing freshly broken plastic to freshly broken plastic, and it wasn't chromed. Gluing chromed plastic to metal is more problematic. There are epoxy glues that are specially formulated to work with plastic, for what that's worth.

It looks like the glue separated at the base of the shaft. I'll need to clean the glue out and re-glue it.

Edit: I think I have to get the head off to get it apart. Then, I can glue it with the pieces separated. Getting it apart will be difficult.

Yeah. The head has a square protrusion that fits in the bottom of the aluminum ferrule. See if you can jam the pump body back on to the separated piece enough to spin the head off. Good luck.

IIRC, I used super glue on the edge where the break was, followed by barge cement between the aluminum sheet and the outer shaft.
