Do any of our members own a Trek 170?

We didn't make very many, and I suspect the people who bought them hung onto them.

Yeah, not looking to buy one just curious to see one in captivity.

There is a rumor they never existed ;)

We probably built as many for sponsored teams as we did for private purchasers.

There was one one fleaBay in December.

Which was the rare one you were looking at with the builder's name on the TT?

It is still available, but life got in the way of a purchase. I still hope to acquire it.

What was it? A 170 or 959 or something?

The claim of one popped up in my eBay feed during the last 24 hours. In case anyone is interested, I added it to my watch list just because I haven't seen one in a couple of years. I can't confirm or deny it's a real 170. Maybe [MENTION=20548]JohnDThompson[/MENTION] can?

Not a bike you see every day. It will be interesting to see what the bike goes for (assuming it sells).

It was interesting enough I followed. :D I'd intended to post in the eBay thread this morning but had to go into work on-call today and put in 6hrs.

I looked it up, weird the BB shell seems to say 58cm along w/T Isaac's initials, but the serial number 06129? would indicate it's a 56. I'm sure there's something I'm missing, bike looks like a 56.

Looks like the Real Thing to me. The 58 on the BB shell does not indicate frame size, but rather the angle between the down tube and seat tube. Different frame sizes require slightly different angles, so they are marked right on the casting to make them easy to distinguish.

I'll bet money it doesn't sell at that price. Come on, $2500 and it needs eveything? And no drive side photos? That coin gets a REALLY nice bike these days.

If they are going to sell this bike at that price, they really should take better photos...and clean it up a bit.

Agreed; I think the bike is overpriced as well.

Starting bid at $2500 and the reserve isn't met at that price.

A nice one went for $2000 in the classifieds here last year.

John, I didn't remember using those decals with that seat lug design? If so it was pretty early.
