Move this to Foo if you've gotta, but I'm taking this opportunity to congratulate my Seahawks :)

Mission accomplished; smoke 'em if you got 'em ;)

They had it tied up at the first snap! Congrats!

Yessir, I went out on the back deck to burn one, & the college kids were lightin' up the sky, with fireworks. :D There'll be celebratin' of all sorts, for who knows how long. ;)

Scooper 02-02-14 09:52 PM

I was embarrassed for Denver. Now I don't feel so bad about the 49ers loss to the Seahawks two weeks ago. We were close, but no cigar.

One thing I can be sure of: Seattle's fans will not be out wrecking their town in celebration!

We'll be enjoying this one for a whole year :)

Who? Only one important thing happened in the sporting world today I can think of:

(Although I will note I may have taught one Mr. R. Wilson during his middle school years).

Saguaro 02-02-14 11:13 PM

Yeah, it was over on the first snap when the ball went over Manning's head into the end zone for a safety. I mean really, a safety, on the first play, in the Super Bowl? Congrats to Seattle, Super Bowl Champions!

orangeology 02-02-14 11:45 PM

feel bad for Denver forks, i mean folks.
that combination of the colors—orange, blue and white just don't work in NY yard. eg) look at Knicks. Mets...

Lascauxcaveman 02-02-14 11:57 PM

I... I... ?

I just don't understand it, according to the Broncos/Seahawks vintage bike thread I started here yesterday, Denver should risen victorious tonight on a final score of 3-0.

As a Seahawks fan, I can't say I'm disappointed, but I think I need to re-examine my methodology on this one.

:) :) :)

WNG 02-03-14 12:20 AM

A nice revenge for the Patriot fans after Broncos knocked them off. ;)

Italuminium 02-03-14 03:21 AM

What's this curious game of handegg our erstwhile colonials indulge in?

qcpmsame 02-03-14 07:09 AM

Was a football game played yesterday? I went for a ride after church and then watched Law and Order for a bunch of hours. Who woulda thunk it?

Yeah-Seahawks suck-but they have a great-PED fueled-defense!

Now Manning-has no arm.Did you see how close they wee playing to the line of scrimmage?
Seahawks knew Manning has no arm-Sherman said EXACTLY that.
It is why Denver does all those SHORT routes-crossing-picks etc
Those routes play right into the Seahawks strength-they are big ,fast and they hit hard-short routes mean you are going to be hit HARD

San Fran and my Saints made Seattle play a bit more honestly-expecting long passes-but Seattle has a better defense than our offense
Now Seattle has several "very cheap players"
Wilson makes what-$800,000- in short order he is going to cost them $10,000,000 or more-
Sherman-same story-but he will be a $7,000,000 cornerback!
They-Seattle-have a narrow window-
and the PED issue-
How do they manage to be bigger and faster in the secondary than other pro athletes-simple-PEDs-Pete Carroll KNOWS how to make players better
The Saints can't get away with that(if they could-they would)
Whenever a pro player or a team-stands out physically-noticably bigger faster-the answer is ALWAYS the same-PED
Just like Usain Bolt(much taller than average)-just like 41yo Dana Torres(older)- Barry Bonds(older)- Roger Clemmons(older)-PEDs-

Seahawks-very tall very fast very strong secondary=PEDS -yeah they stand out in a pro league.Normally tall guys aren't that nimble quick big fast

rootboy 02-03-14 08:23 AM

Haven't watched a Seahawks game since the great Steve Largent was playing for them. Congrats to them. First Super Bowl win ever for them ?

Drillium Dude 02-03-14 08:30 AM

Scott, it sure was their first - and they started in the old Kingdome back in the Bicentennial Year. Been a long time coming :)

I'm not a huge football fan per se, but I do identify with my Seahawks, the Wave and the 12th Man. Seattle can rightly be proud of their achievement; it was a great season, period. The SB was just icing on the cake.

toytech 02-03-14 10:23 AM

they should thank the refs in the last game against the 49ers, without whom they would not be there. (sour grapes ignore me)

SJX426 02-03-14 10:51 AM

Paul Allen finally won a national titile! Came close with the Trailblazers in 92, but Jordan could do no wrong from the Refs perspective (just keeping in line with sour grapes).

That doesn't mean you can't watch them - Largent was with me yesterday:

There we go - the PED thing again. Every professional sport has to deal with that. Personally I think they should take EPO - they'd run longer and even faster than they already do. :thumb:

phoebeisis 02-03-14 12:05 PM

EPO is great for endurance athletes.
Probably not as much of an advantage for football players-but could be helpful
Amphetamines -testosterone type drugs and growth hormone(and other hormones related to growth hormone) would be more of an advantage
Pretty sure many strength type athletes-sprinters football baseball have ways of beating the drug tests
They take right up to the limit of -testosterone-and the precursor/ co-metabolites they test for(that ratio)
test very frequently to know they are just under the limit.
Tough to do all the testing they need to do (and keep it secret-) but it can be done-even in the USA
Bolt on the other hand-isn't under much scrutiny in jamaica-

Whenever folks are well outside the middle-those tall fast agile defensive backs-when most other DBs are smaller shorter-makes you wonder how they do it?? Seattle suddenly discovered a different species?? Or much more likely-they have IMPROVED their athletes.
The answer in athletics is ALWAYS the same-PEDS
Pretty sure a Seattle sportswriter said EXACTLY that recently-Pete has the best PED program!!

Yes I am a sore loser-Saints- our offense-just wasn't as good as that defense-not at Seattle-
Denver-with a no arm QB- had zero chance-
AFC just not as good as NFC this year-and Manning-it was OBVIOUS early on-he had no arm-
Great receivers-decent running back-no arm QB

I'm a very sore loser-I hate San Frans coach about as much as I hate Seattle as a team
Don't really dislike Pete Carroll-good coach-no where near as big a AH as Harbaugh( high bar of course since he is a flaming AH)

Dfrost 02-03-14 12:16 PM

We were on a bike ride through downtown Seattle Sunday afternoon (I was recording the game to get through it quicker, later). It was eerily quiet. The stretch along the waterfront, normally crazy busy on any non-rainy Sunday afternoon, was nearly empty of both cars and pedestrians. I did hear some good cheers from places we passed that gave some indication about how things were going.

And the game when I watched it later was fun to watch (as a Seattle-ite), but the cheers around the neighborhood told the result before I got to the end of the recording.

spacemanz 02-03-14 01:06 PM

But on the bright side of things, the cannabis grows taller, faster, & stronger too. :D OK, maybe B.C. "might" have better, but they're like North Seattle, in a way, on the map. ;)
