My Vitus 979

Here's a pic of my Vitus 979. I picked this up a few weeks ago for $60! I found it for sale on facebook, where it had been for sale for weeks. I even waited a couple weeks before going to see it since in the pic it looked a lot worse than it actually way. I took a bunch of stuff of it (aero bars, computer etc) and changed out the pedals, bar tape, and bottle cage. I took off some of the decals since they were flaking off and some letters were missing already. Rides really nice and it fits me perfectly. I know the saddle is a "lady model" turbo but it's comfortable. I will swap that out eventually too. I have close to $100 in it as-is with several extra parts. I'm super happy it.

Gipiemme white laser crank, Campagnolo front sprockets, the rest is all shimano 600 sis stuff. It was ready to ride after airing up the tires.

Wow! very nice 979 resto build!
The white crankset, saddle and bar tape makes it look so minty 80's fresh!
You can easily get replacement frame decals for the bike at eBay if you want to top off you project. Not cheap at around 45 bucks for most complete decal sets, but it really makes a big difference once you have them on the bike. Just make sure you get the right version of the decals that corresponds with the year your version of the 979s were sold.
