I wonder if they ever insplode?

I don't know if they implode or not. One test report I read was about their 29er and it went through a heck of abuse. Would be curious to hear from someone who owns and rides one.
And yep - too much for my wallet

Wood is the new/old thing Home - Renovo Hardwood Bicycles
Jokes aside - I'd love to have one like that but with more classic look, renovo bikes look too aero for me :-)

I spied that a year or two ago myself; and have just enough woodworking skills to really get into trouble on a project like that. I think they went with the modern Aero look because of the necessity of having a thicker "tube set." A bike frame made from broom handles joined in a diamond frame shape would be pretty flimsy.

It's really kind of a gimmick. Much as I love wood (I build guitars) it just isn't as good a material for bicycles as the more common ones used every day in bike making. Obviously it's not nearly as strong as steel, not nearly as light as AL or CF, it's not nearly as anything as TI; it just looks really nice, and is "good enough" in the right hands, to make a decent bike frame from.

One of these days. I've got a half dozen unfinished guitar projects I should finish first.
