Campy Nine Speed Question
I have a mid nineties Pinarello with Campy Nine Speed Record Titanium and the right shifter has broken. I live in SW Virginia and don't know squat about wrenching, my two fairly local shops are at a loss about parts. Any ideas about where to get parts? Does anyone know of a mechanic in the Roanoke Va. area that specializes in old Campy? I have looked for shifters on E Bay and saw a pair of 9 speed Ti go for $255, a little more than I want to spend. Any ideas about what my choices are would be greatly appreciated, I am looking at buying a set of Chorus 9 speed shifters on E bay at this point, but again, it is a lot to spend to fix what is probably an inexpensive part. Thanks. Davis

Barcons would be an economical and practical replacement.
In the old days one could find replacement bits for almost any Campag. component or subsystem. I don't know whether that is still true.

It's likely to be a broken spring. The shifter can be disassembled and the broken pieces replaced.
It looks like Branford bikes still stocks the components.
What doesn't work now?
Is the shifting "mushy" and it won't stay centered in a gear? G-springs or cracked carrier
Or, nothing catches when moving the shift lever, so it won't shift to a bigger cog? a different broken spring.
Or, thumb button doesn't work correctly?
Or maybe something else. Post your symptoms.

I've replaced springs a few times on my 10-speed Veloce shifter. The disassembly is pretty easy, but the reassembly can be very tricky the first time. I think it took me at least a couple of hours to get it working. There's a technique to getting the springs back in place that's pretty easy the "second time around" And a couple of youtube videos do help.

The inner lever actually fell off. It does not look broken, seems as if the "bracket" holding it may have broken. I am fairly certain I would make it worse. As a mechanic, I am a really good chef. I will email the Branford link to my shop and see if he can work it out. Thanks for the quick responses. Davis

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?
if this is the Branford Bike, now in Seattle, they converted a Campy 9 shifter to Campy 10 for me. No complaint about the work but make sure you have a firm price agreed and documented.

The lever and it's mount come as an assembly. The lever fell right off? Or is it just hanging loose?

It might be better to mail the shifter to a shop that's experienced in Campagnolo shifter repair. My local bike store stocks a few of the springs and other wear items, and know how to evaluate partially worn components.
Since it'll be apart, you really want to replace the two G springs. $12 at Branford. These get worn and make the shifting less crisp. Or they break and it won't stay in a gear. You'll notice the difference when the shifter comes back.
The G spring carrier, $12 is sometimes cracked across, near the post. I don't think you'd need to replace it unless it actually cracked.
The thumb lever has a tiny pointed end that engages the notched shifter plate. If this is really worn down, the whole lever needs replacing. $32 But it's probably still good.
Your big shift lever assembly is expensive. $58 or more. Perhaps a shop that does lots of repairs would have used levers from a scrapped shifter.
