Nice find! I have a Columbus tubing 900 from the same year. The paint on these older Treks is very durable, I think you will be please with the results.

That looks like a barn find. The Imron paint jobs on those old Treks is first rate. I have two of them and I'm impressed with how well the paint has lasted.

Did it follow you home across the savannah?
Nice find though, glad it found someone who will appreciate it.

Saved in a Field I WISH IT HAD BEEN INN A BARN...
Interesting I found the Original Wheels on a Nishiki International that also followed me home.
Yes I got all the components including the rear derailleur laying in the dirt... I didn't post a side pic yet. I think it was intentional about the 590 wheel but am unsure as to what they were doing... Lets make up why they did it. I say they had an expensive Taiwanese Schwinn wheel and put it on to charge more for the TREK lol
LOL it was in a field at a lady's house that used to have a recycle business. The Savanah might have wrecked the paint whereas the grass shielded it from the sun...
My Quote of the Day:
She said "All the bikes here are 20 or 25 dollars except for the Schwinn's there more." I looked and they were all Taiwan or worse...
I reply "Ya know that just let's someone who knows bikes, know how little you know about bikes"
As I walk over to the Sekai MTB with a Sugino AT crank, Suntour Mountech 986 Canti Araya 7X on it Snap!!! seen in this thread
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...l#post16855192
and pass the Nishiki International with the TREK 910 Wheels Snap!!! and the Trek 910 SnaaaP!
$65 for all three

I would assume that the bikes left the showroom with both. When I purchased my 900 a few years ago it had period correct Campagnolo high flange hubs and 700c Mavic rims. I have no way of knowing if these were showroom stock, however.

I like the bike a lot; those imron paint jobs were some tough. I have 2 older Treks with those paint jobs. The paint jobs have held up amazingly well.
