'70's tubular rims suggestions
Re: '73 Raleigh Pro MK IV build (we're going w/sew-ups). I've got a pair of Wolber hard anodized rims but do not know if they are appropriate. The spec chart says "A.S.A Sprint Alloy". I found some ASA rims; don't know about "Sprint Alloy". If I can't find the original rims I at least want to use era appropriate. I may be wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if the rims that came on these bikes varied some. Any one heard of "BIRMALUX SPRINT"?

"BIRMALUX SPRINT" were British made rims. IIRC, Lambert/Viscount used them on their high-end models.

I put Mavic Championet du Monde rims on my '78 Pro. They are not the exact rims used in '78 AFAIK (catalog says Mavic Sprint) but they look correct and are pretty easy to find.

I am using Ambrosio MontReal on my Gitane.
You may need a 36H wheel hub

Mavic 'Championnat Du Monde' tubular rims were the factory OEM rims on my 1972 P15-9 Paramount.

And these seem fairly reasonable.
Which surprises me from this seller.

I do no like them to build. They are better than the non eyeleted versions.
The best ones have a red rectangular radiused label that surrounds the valve hole.

We would have jumped on hard anodized rims like a hen on bug were they available in '73, much better kit.
The Period-Correct-Police are unlikely to issue you a ticket for using non-OEM rims, but they will snicker behind your back.

Fiamme Red Label, Fiamme Yellow Label
Super Champ Arc-en-ciel.
I wouldnt be concerned with what was shipped with the bike originally since people (me anyway) went through several pairs of rims and bought what the LBS had in stock.

Fiamme Ergals are fantastically light and period appropriate for an early 70's race bike. They match the weight of later Mavic GEL280's so they are every weight weenie's dream rims for 70's bikes. Only problem is, the aluminum alloy used on the Fiammes were just way too soft, so building/truing them is trickier than most. It also most likely means that you'd be truing them more often than most other rims.
You can go with Fiammes, but don't expect them to be as tough/reliable as most other, heavier rims from the period.

Yes. I wouldn't use these either. But the Op asked about "original" rims to the bike. These aren't it, but finding the original model AVAs will prove to be difficult. If it were me, I'd use Super Champions.

I would use any rim with a bare polished aluminum finish. The gray anodized stuff came later.

I'm not the pickiest guy on the forum, but I do draw the line at anodized rims-- they change the look of the bike. Ya gotta have some minimum standards, and polished tubular rims are not hard to find.

Yes, AVA. I replaced mine from my International with Fiamme Red. I believe I gave the AVAs to forum member beech333. Not sure if he has used them, but if you really have a hard on for OEM, contact him

As of now, I think that's what I want. Lots of good suggestions. Mavic came out with their SSC's in '75 (I read somewhere) so I thought anodized might be plausible, but I get what you are saying about them not looking quite right.

There are some things that would reasonably be changed out on a bike. Since the rims that came with the bike do not get high marks, I think that I will go with one of the other suggestions. Thank you though.

Mentioned above were the Ambrosio Montreal. Back when, I spent my wad on a Colnago frame leaving me with little and a piece by piece budget for mixed components and wheels. I later updated it but the first set of wheels I built for that bike where the Durex(?) tubular with a light grey tone anodize. Anodized rims were sought, and these were reasonably priced plus offered choices of drillings. I don't know if its appropriate for a Raleigh but perhaps era correct.

Check these out Shopco: Vintage Set 2 New French Ava 36h Tubular Rims Rimset Raleigh Pro | eBay
Granted the PO has decided to go with other rims. Not to hijack the thread, but what is it about the correct AVA rims do several of our posters find to be inferior.
Disclaimer. I have the rims. I find nothing wrong with them.
