Help with Bianchi Identificaton

Hello,

I have done some searching both here and on the web. I recently purchased a frame that I would like to identify. It has been sandblasted and clear-coated, and many of the original components are gone, so I know it will be hard. The gentleman who I bought it from said it was a Bianchi, and he personally removed the paint because it was in poor shape.

It is not drilled for a headbadge, has Suntour GT dropouts, SR Apex Crank, 26.8 seatpost, 68mm BB shell, and fits a 27" wheel. The serial number is KS04437, and I have read that Bianchi numbers are not helpful with year/model. The few searches I have done for GT drop outs have netted Nishiki brand bicycles, but they generally had drilled head badges for that era.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tricky. All vintage road Bianchis I'v seen has had some branding in the casted seat lug. But Bianchi has made so many models over the years that it's sometimes near impossible to pin the right model.

Btw. what are those tires?

Probably made in Japan, which you can verify by measuring the BB shell width (68mm Japan, 70mm Italy).

I've got a Bianchi frame that doesn't have any Bianchi name etched anywhere. The headtube decal is all that is left, but the serial number matches others Bianchi, as does the colour.

The center pulls on this bike are a hint that this is earlier than say 1984, but others would know better.

It would very probably not be an Italian made Bianchi, the BB width would be proof.

I have a 1986 Bianchi Premio , SN KS47595. It would seem to be in the ballpark for a Japanese made Bianchi. I've got "before" pictures on the "Official Show Off Your Bianchi" thread, Pawnshop Premio.

It has a 68mm shell, sorry to have not mentioned that. I put the centerpull on myself, but appears to be too long of a reach for the 27" wheel.

They are Panaracer Pasela PT tires, they sell them on Niagara cycle for a good price.

Thanks. I am familiar with Paselas, though I haven't seen them in that color scheme.

Those handlebars look like the Bridgestone Moustache Handlebars used on the 1992 XO-1 but the XO-1 had sidepulls.
