Gitane Grantour - circa 1983?
Time warp!
I bought this new around 1983 I think. Mail order from a printed catalog no less!
Could it have been Bloor Cycle in Toronto?
Couldn't afford a Trek, really wanted a Fuji but this was in stock.
Toured all over Atlantic Canada, and crossed the Rockies from Vancouver (Expo 86) to Calgary.
This was back when I was in college and and had time to tour. Then came wife, kids, job.
Just dug it out and am starting to ride again.
Note the Bata bikers, Tailwind panniers (I have a full set), and the Blackburn rack. Long gone is the original Bell bike helmet.
I am going to keep it maintained, glad to find this forum and people who appreciate what these bikes are. People at work can't understand why I don't junk it and get a "new" and "better" bike.
I'm on the lookout for the dreaded Helicomatic freewheel to have on the shelf against the day it lets me down.
Cheers - Joe

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement front fork?
I bent the original in an unfortunate ADD accident (squirrel- POST!)
I found a cheap one but it does not have the Mafac cantilever braze ons
Would also be nice to have a low rider rack braze on
