Miyata Alumitech frame, help ID model?
I've been scratching my head over this one, comparing the frame details to all the catalog years and wondering if it could be anything other than a 1989 1100a? (model number is nowhere to be found on the frame)

The strange thing is that the serial on the BB starts with "SU..." which I think would indicate it was made in 1990.
Any thoughts or musings welcome and appreciated--thanks fellow Miyata lovers!

My guess is yours is a 1989 1100A due to that beautiful paint scheme. I believe they changed the name to the 1400A in 1990-91 years. I really like that two-tone paint job.
I have a 1990 AlumiTech, which is all white, which doesn't show up in the catalogue's. Great bike IMHO, as it is very racy, a good handler and it has a very steel like ride to it due to the alloy forks and stays. And it still looks pretty modern 25 years later. I think she is one of Miyata's better models, but doesn't get much cred due to it's "aluminess"...

Well, bonded to be more exact, but it really gives the frame a modern look, and no, it's not coming apart after 25 years of use!

I've had three '89s; Alumicross, 312 and 718a (Alumitech). A great year for Miyata. (I swapped the '89 Alumicross for a '91 which came stock with slightly better components.)
Threaded carbon forks are still available from Nashbar last time I checked, the one I put on my 312 is very sweet.
