Honey, brown or black leather saddle for a "British Racing Green" frame?

Time for some fashion advice, folks. I'd like to get a leather saddle for my Lemond Croix de Fer (not exactly C&V era, but in the same spirit). I'm thinking either a Brooks Swift or a Gyes GS-06, but leaning towards the much more affordable Gyes at this point. In either case, I need to decide on the color - honey, brown or black. Fire away with any suggestions!

Here's by ride (ignore the laptop sleeve - that's my commuter rig for my laptop):

If you don't want your butt to hurt, buy the Brooks.

Please trust me on this one.

Go for honey, it would look great on that nice bike.

Don't forget to match the handle bar tape.

I like brown (or maybe honey) and dark green together. Reminds me of the seats in old British sportscars.

I'm with Henry Ford; any color as long as it's black.

And I'll third that - it would be beautiful. It is now, but that would really set it apart.

Honey with matching bar tape, although White would look good too.

Just remember that honey will eventually darken with use. I think they look better then, FWIW. So my opinion would be honey.

Honey - Brooks Flyer. If you don't mind the extra weight, suspension is always desirable on a bike.

Vote for brown for me. Honey is too raw, I like the aged brown look. Like an old wooden table.

I went with black; the honey looks good when new but stains terribly in a short time

That's the reason bike shorts are black, stupid. To hide the stains from lighter color saddles.

i've had a bunch of brook saddles, all bought from ebay, most of 'em brand new, for under $90. but i've only owned one honey one. i bought it only because it was new and around $70. when i put it on its bike, i hated the color -- it was too bright. but after a year, it looked the best of the bunch -- wonderfully antiqued, more brown than honey at that point.

but with this bike having black tape and tires (along with the rings), i'd go brown or black. (a brown one will look really good in a year like a honey one.)

fizik doesn't make honey tape any more. but you can still buy it on ebay. i put it on a recent bike, and it looks great and wears better than leather. feels a lot better too after six months.

You bring up some good points.

Honey, once you actually ride the bike, darkens up quite a bit.

Reminds me of my favorite baseball gloves growing up.

As for the Fizik, it really is my favorite tape, other than the fancy stuff at Cadence.

The Fizik honey brown always looks great to me. I saw it on clearance at Ribble last year for $6 a box so I ended up with five boxes.

Great stuff.

Honey, brown, or black?
Yes.
Tough to screw things up when you stay with that palette. Honey if you like higher contrast, black if you want a more uniform whole.
If you're just fishing for personal opinions, I'd go with brown. Oldschool class.

That looks more like a kit car than an 'old British sports car'.
