Schlitz beer is probably my all time favorite swiller, and I have swilled way too many over the years. 30 yo I believed in the micro revolution but now older and wiser, I don't give a $#@&

Just had some Leinenkugel Harvest Patch Shandy. It tastes like Pumpkin Pie in a bottle. :)

Their Oktoberfest was pretty good, too.

If money were no object I'd go for Johnny Walker Blue Label. Because it is I go for Black Label. I also enjoy Dustbowl Brewing Co. "Hops of Wrath" (red IPA). However My all time favorite is good ole Heineken.... Yum

I like to think that over the years I've perfected my skills at making mojitos. It's my favorite drink in the summer. The secret of a good mojito? A serious stick to mash the lime.

For me, when I need an "adult beverage" to quench my thirst, I reach for the ultimate C&V beer:

Any tomato juice and cheap beer fans out there?

USAZorro 09-04-15 09:08 AM

Keep Jack, gin, porters, stouts, reds, and the bottom shelf away from me.

Two I am partial to: Captain Morgan Private Reserve, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.

Kobe 09-04-15 09:37 AM

Black Grouse Scotch has become my go to choice.

Unfiltered craft beers. IPA's and Pale Ales when it's hot. Fall and Winter beers make me happy when it's not. So many good ones now... I just go and try something new every week.

Had Southern Tier Pumpking the other day - may do it again tonight ;).

Isn't IPA a type of pale ale? I'm just learning.

I am by no means an expert; I think it is. In my experience, IPA's tend to be hoppier though and can put you on yer ass pretty quick. Many of them also have a sort of citrusy taste (although that may not be properly descriptive) that accompanies them.

I never did know that much about the proper classification of beer. I still don't and it usually doesn't present a problem except at times like this when attempting to discuss beer classifications...

IN name, yes. but I've seen labels saying "white IPA", "brown IPA", "amber IPA", etc. The meaning of the "P" seems to have gotten lost. The "I" part however is quite significant, and the term "IPA" seems to have become the generic name of the style regardless of the color. There are IPL's now too which taste very much like IPA's.

Historically the "I" part indicated a pale ale brewed stronger and more strongly hopped (since hops is a preservative) to help it survive the long sailing-ship journey to the India.

Ale of course refers to beer brewed with top-growing yeast, traditionally naturally-occurring rather than seeded, at warmer temperatures. In contrast, lager is brewed at colder temperatures with bottom-growing yeast.

IPA stands for India pale ale, so it seems to me IPA is a subset of pale ale. I read that IPA is a British invention that is popular in India.

In my experience, IPA's are hoppy and citrusy as you say.

Tons of great beer in Seattle and I love trying it all out. Aaaand, fresh hop season is starting! Two Beers just released theirs and I CAN'T WAIT for Fremont Brewing's Cowiche Canyon. It's usually released in October, but the higher temps this year might push it earlier.

I have, however, been drinking bourbon instead of beer on weeknights to cut down on calories. Cutting a bit of weight for cross season. :) Jefferson's and Woodford Reserve have been my go-tos for a while, but I cut into the Oban 12 year when I am feeling fancy.

Taking a bunch of Colorado beers to a friend's house tommorrow for a cookout. Eddyline, Renegade, Telluride, Ska, Bristol, etc. Even a couple of Montana breweries too: Bozeman, Red Lodge, and Kettlehouse. These are all beers picked up on a recent trip to the intermountain west, the best place on earth.

I just had that two nights ago. My wife bought it at the insistence of a fellow shopper at Wegman's. It's very hoppy tasting and has a bit of a bitter aftertaste. It nearly knocked me out, and I come to discover that it has 7% alcohol by volume!

I've begun to like Yuengling standard amber lager. That is, if I decide to have an evening beer with dinner. Can't do that often, as it adds calories that I'm afraid would lead to belly fat. Can't have that...

Pabst and Honey Brown Lager are what you will find in my fridge now. Yuengling Bock is in the wings to go in the fridge once it is empty.

That's not old enough. The stuff I drink comes from breweries much older than that... ;)

The stick is called a muddler. That's the extent of my knowledge of mojitos.
