Schwinn World Sport identification

Today, I purchased a Schwinn World Sport. Could you please help me identify its year of manufacture and assembly?

Here is some information from the bicycle:
  • The "Schwinn Quality" head badge is round, affixed with two rivets, and stamped with "3426".
  • The bottom bracket is stamped with "GL631940".
  • The seat tube has a sticker reading "CRO MOLY 4130 DOUBLE BUTTED MAIN TUBES".
  • The down tube has a sticker reading "Made in Taiwan".
  • It has 12 "speeds".
Based on this SLDB Serial Numbers webpage, I think the frame was manufactured in July 1975 and the bike was assembled in December 1976 (day 342 of 1976). Is this (likely to be) correct?

Please let me know if any other information from the bicycle might help the identification process. Thank you!

Christian

Based on this Schwinn head badges webpage, I now think that the years of frame-manufacture and unit-assembly were 1985 and 1986 respectively, a decade later than I'd first guessed.

World Sport construction started in 1979. The G in your serial number indicates it was made for Schwinn by Giant.

Here is a link to the World Sport catalog pages from 1979 to 1992.

Bikes: Fillet-brazed Schwinns

I believe the GL6xxxxx serial no. indicates that the frame was built by Giant in Nov. or Dec. of '86 (not sure if they skipped "I"), while the 3426 badge number indicates the bike was assembled on the 342nd day of 1986, or Monday Dec. 8th, 1986.

Being built overseas that late in the year means it is most likely an '87 model.
