Oh man Velovixen...your a native Oregonian and your into bikes? I think he's one of the most famous and well know Oregon builders I can think of. Heck he built the bike Andy Hampsten won the Giro on to replace the Serotta that broke! He's also lives just a few minutes from my house and I had him sign the his section in Jan Heine's "The Competition Bicycle" book one day he stopped in at the bike shop I work at. He was pretty surprised when I asked him to sign it but was delighted to sign it and told us a little story about the bike.

Oddly, my wife was watching "Soylent Green" today (it's what came up on her Netflix queue). I hope she doesn't get any ideas.
John Slawta started in Southern California about when I was working at Euro-Asia Imports before moving to Oregon. I'm pretty sure I packed up some parts he ordered (that's hazy, though). He was known for wild paint jobs: Landshark Roadshark | Cycle EXIF

That green is nice though. I think it has great potential, aesthetically.

Seems like most of the great American builders have had at least one big star ride their bikes to victories. Land Shark had Andy...Della Santa had Greg...Serotta had Davis etc etc. That is the first Land Shark I have owned. I will try to change out the bar and stem and the bar tape for sure. Maybe a classy old silver Cinelli bar and stem is what it needs. As well as the beige tape. Thanks all for the great input!!!
