Help Identifying Nishiki
I purchased a Nishiki 12-Speed Road bike recently and am unsure of the model.
The previous owner stated he owned it since high-school and had a friend repaint it. He also changed bars, brake levers, gear selectors and seat.
The seller stated all other components are original, but he could not recall the model.
I did locate the Vin# CD 16317, which means (If I'm correct) Canada 1984.
I have most components off, but Ill get photos of them + details, such as lugs and identifying characteristics.
List of Components/features:
Frame: Cro-Mo double butted
Stem: Sakae SR
Crankset: Sugino VT 170mm
Pedals: KKT Pro Vic 2 (1-piece)
Brakes: Dia_Compe N-500
Derailers: Shimano RD-105
Wheels: Araya 27" (w/ quick disconnects)
*I have to be up for work in 6 hours, so I'll get plenty of photos tomorrow.
Thanks!
-Zack.

thanks for posting the serial number and the photos.
The photos are not a lot to work with, but from the lugs and the shifter bosses looks like a Canadian Nishiki Olympic 1985 model year.
You are correct about the serial number: Nishiki for the Canadian market and the frame was made in 1984.

Yes, I apologize for the photos, they are far from useful.
I had a suspicion it could be an Olympic 12. I'm not sure if its of great value, but either way it's a nice single speed now.
I put on a set of old Schwinn style fenders. It looks sweet
I'll get some photos up after its all painted.
Thanks,
-Zack

Interesting evolution. In 1973, the Olympic had a very heavy carbon steel frame, cottered steel cranks, and steel rims. By 1985 it has a double-butted CrMo frame and aluminum cranks and rims.

The Canadian Olympic model name in 1984 and 1985 was just "Olympic", not Olympic 12. Both years Tange 5 Plain Gauge tubes.
The US model in 1984 was Olympic 12 and in 1985 there was no Olympic model.
