dave moulton - build
After 10 years of on and off looking one has finally shown up in a big brown truck, the build is a "Special Professional Road" handbuilt by Dave himself, I have bought and sold many of bikes (mostly vintage) over the last 20 years, some Italians, some French, some from the US and everyone of them were fantastic riders, but thru all those years I would always catch myself browsing Daves blog and gallery , i would also check the ol mighty ebay on a regular basis in hope of finding one , but to no avail ! that was until a month ago I did a search like always on ebay , and I had to look twice, and there it was , not only in my size but the correct color , I thought this is impossible what are the chances of this happening, after 3 days of watching it and coming up with some quick cash and quite afew messages a deal was struck, i also have talked with dave about this bike and he still has the build sheet for whom he had built it for down to the month it was built and where, this particular customer wanted it a 56.5cm and built with Reynolds 531 tubing instead of Columbus , this will be a long drawn out build for me, a piece by piece build that will probably last for six months or so since this is all I have, the frame/fork and headset, i have no spare parts, so over the next six months I will be buying and collecting parts for my 80s era build.

So very nice!
Love the color.
Sometimes the search is a such a great part of the fun.
This will be a great thread to follow as you put together the pieces, so have fun.

I hope not either , I came across a few but always to small or way to tall , plus with only around 216 of these made and were custom built for a customer they rarely want to sell them

Wonderful frame, and great to hear that you got exactly what you wanted.
Moulton's frames are just so clean and simple - in the best possible way.
I really look forward (even if it's a year from now!) to seeing this built up.
I thought I had wild score on a Moulton-built Recherché frame set earlier this year, bright red...but it was discovered to have a ripple in the DT from a crash, and I passed.

Beautiful find - that seat cluster alone is worth the wait
I, too, look forward to build plans and hope for photos of the finished product in the not-too-distant future.

Nice! That one would definitely be worth the effort. I read Dave's blog now and then and it is always informative and entertaining. It's really cool that he "opens the doors" to his knowledge base for all. Great find and I'll be very excited to see the final result.

Super or Nuovo and NOS or used? I like where this is headed. My Campag friction bikes have been getting more love then my Paramount equipped with Red or my custom 650c with 11spd Chorus.

I had sent Dave Moulton some new pictures and he informed me that he did indeed paint this frame and all of the custom frames , also this particular frame was built in the Masi building where had a space until he got his own shop in july of 83'.

thanks for all the comments guys ! Nuovo Record is more affordable for me ,I have come across a nice older wheelset with some Campy hubs ,I will see how that plays out towards the end of the week along with a crank with double ring gears, so hopefully I will have a few more pics of "bits and pieces" in a week or so.

Congratulations! My elusive bike was a 54 cm red-white Ironman. It finally found me.

Wheelset
I bought these vintage Araya Aero 1 anodized goldish/bronzed rims, I thought they would go good with the decals ,they are laced up to Campagnolo 32 spoke low flange Tipo hubs.

NR is still a fine choice for this build. SR, NR - not too much difference in weight, for one thing, or aesthetics for another. I like the choice of rims, too, and the color's a good match for the decals.
Looks to be coming along nicely
