Old Raleigh information.

Hi all. I've recently acquired a new, old bike. I can't seem to find much information on it on the internet but it was sold to me as a 1925 Raleigh DL-1 that was brought from Bermuda where it was used as a rental bike. I did however find an ad online for a bike of the same type called the "Bermuda Model" and that it is pre-war. It has a single reverse brake lever, connected to a cable which is routed inside of the handlebars, where it connects and turns into a front rod brake. Pretty dry brake pads. It has a rear coaster, no rear rack, an Eadie coaster hub in the rear, front hub with oil hole, as well as a bottom bracket oil hole. Faded paint near the head tube that faintly says Bermuda Model, a serial number on the seat tube collar of R4390 and another number i have yet to make out, as well as an umbrella holder on the handlebars. It has a leather chaincase (which I will be removing and replacing as it's very ratty and rotting). The number on the bottom of the headtube is the rental number other bike, it also comes with a plate on the front hub (numbers do not match the headtube), which are rental numbers apparently. A dynamo headlamp with grounds as well. The saddle is a persons permaco 119.

If anyone has any information they could possibly give me, much appreciated. I'm really loving my new acquisition.

That's a cool-looking bike. Have you had a look through the early Raleigh catalogs on the threespeedhub.com site?

You can date a lot of old 3 speeds by the hub. Sturmey Archers usually have a two digit date code stamped on the hub shell.

Cool find, congratulations. My favorite Bermuda product is Goslings!

"Loop frame DL-1" will turn up the most relevant information. The headlight is probably a key marker for approximate age. The wheels on yours look to be alloy, so are replacements.
