Riding this week on Bainbridge Island or near Seattle?

I'm visiting Bainbridge Island this week and can borrow a road bike. Anyone want to ride with me? I consider myself a "B" rider.

I'm pretty close by; I'll send you an email tomorrow so we can talk dates. Weather is supposed to be cold and clear out here this coming week.

pretty nice winter week to visit, especially near the end of the week, with forecasts of mid 40's and sunny skies.

if you make it over to seattle and need some company, shoot me an email.

Seattle is possible. I can take the ferry. I'll talk to my hosts (in-laws).

I'm unexpectedly free today. Anyone else? Right now, I am a party of one, so I'm not bound up with anyone else's plans.

My cell number is 646-683-7887.

Tomorrow is another possibility. I know it's cold, so I'm prepared to make it short if necessary.

@ noglider - I'm way the heck down in Portland so obviously won't be joining you. Not sure what level "B" rider is but if it's what I think, I'm much further down the alphabet than you!

Wishing you a wonderful holiday and hope that yo, as well as any other riding companions, have a safe and fantastic ride!

You've probably already done it, but a visit to the Classic Cycle downtown is a must.
Many vintage road bikes displayed, including a really nice Dave Moulton.

Here is their link:

Bill, I might make it tomorrow, just need to get coverage at work. I'll know by 5pm today. If so, I'll meet up with Noglider in Bainbridge and we'll bike onto the ferry.

Tim, you're the one with the most bicycles - by far. Maybe a 'trade ride', that Bianchi Limited calls to me in my dreams.

Sorry I can't make Thurs guys.

For some reason, I never really took to it. Special deal if you want to buy it back, otherwise it'll probably go up on CL next spring; it's one I have set aside for the next cull.

Folks, if you don't mind, I'd like to include my family. I had always meant to, but I should have mentioned it. But I forgot when mentioning myself. My wife cruises at about 11 mph, so she's really a C rider or so. My daughter and in-laws will probably join us. Who is in so far? Just Tim and Bill?

What? You're bailing? You don't want to meet Tom's extra-cute daughter? You're so shy, guy.

I'm still planning on being there. @northbend, My pref is to take the Bainbridge-Seattle boat that gets to the Colman dock about 12:05pm, but Tom hasn't called me back to confirm this scheduling. Know anyone else in the Seattle area crew that'd like to attend a leisurely ride?

A route from the ferry to the Ballard Locks sounds fine to me, and non-challenging, hill-wise. I know there's a lot of bikey infrastructure that has gone in since I regularly rode the mean streets of Seattle (1986). I'll see if I can google up some of that stuff, unless you've got a good link for me @eschlwc.

how old?

jk.

google maps may not show the bike path through myrtle edwards. here's how:
- "take the lane" on alaskan way over to the sculpture park and myrtle edwards park.
- follow the paved trail all the way and under the magnolia bridge.

then you can decide:
- straight over to dravus/nickerson/fremont bridge/bg trail, or
- magnolia, discovery park to the south side of the locks.

i'd go magnolia on the way there, then bg trail to gas works on the way back. then take the fremont bridge and dexter/bell/5th ave back to yesler/ferry terminal.

stay away from the ballard bridge. better to take nickerson to the fremont bridge. use the bike/ped path on each side of the fremont bridge. and take your phone in case you get lost in discovery park!

^Thanks for the info, looks like we're going to stay on Bainbridge, now. But one of these days I'll bike over there and I can use that route. I've really got a hankering to check out all the 'new' bike routes around town; none of that stuff was in place when i was a Seattlite.
