Specialized Street Stomper
I've never been too partial to Specialized, but I do have a sweet spot for decent late 80s to early 90s MTBs. I spotted this Street Stomper today on CL in my size, it might be too good to pass up...

I DID pass up on one that showed up on my local craigslist years ago and regretted it. Street Stompers are very uncommon. I wanted to get it for the name alone but didn't have the cash at the time. I absolutely love the colour of the one you posted - I'd grab it. This is only the 2nd one I've seen since I missed that first one. Not saying it's rare as in valuable, but rare as in there aren't many out there.

I saw a white one downtown here.
Again, not a very valuable bike, but uncommon and kind of cool in a "what's the difference between this and a rockhopper" sort of way.

I've had one in a shed for about 20 years, haven't ever seen another one. It's like my City-Becane, not really valuable but they're pretty rare.

It looks very small does it have 24" wheels? These were more like all terrain bikes rather than mountain bikes. IIRC the one I had briefly didn't even have a full chrome frame/fork or any sealed bearings. They were nice basic bikes but yeah pretty unusual. I think the Hardrock series replaced these on lower rung.

Was a short lived Specialized, City Bike. I've only seen, 2 or 3 in my life too & all that tourquoise color. Those were cool names Strada, the Motobecane "Mt. Becane" and the Fuji, "Mt. Fuji" , early MTB's

It's got 24in wheels, which I'm not that worried about. I think the frame is 16", normally I ride a 15" for mountain bikes. I'm not too interested in it value-wise or hardcore mountain stuff. Mostly I'm thinking about throwing some drops on it and using it as a winter commuter.

The paint does look pretty neat, it's almost too shiny. My first love was a Gary Fisher, they will always be special haha. I'm going to have to talk the guy down, though, as he is asking more than I think I'm willing to pay. We'll see Friday when I get a look at it. I'm also having bike-cravings because I'm frustrated with my projects.

I went to my LBS today to get some other things for my commuter when I spotted THE PERFECT bike. $20 later, I brought home a Rockhopper! It's in super rough condition, but the frame is intact and I have a bunch of extra bits for it from the parts bin.

The StreetStomper is a perfectly capable bike. I built one up nicely, rode it for a bit, and sold it a few months back for a nice NICE chunk of change. Nicest StreetStomper ever.

YoKev I want to build a bike just like your streetstomper. Now I'm inspired. The only thing I'd do different is a brooks saddle. Nicely done!
