MASI Prestige - 1983
A stunning Masi Prestige, 1983. Still owned by the buyer, pictured as found.
Just cleaned after 20 years standing, inflated tires and lubricated.
Every component is Campagnolo and according to the owner this is the only black 57cm Prestige frame Alberto Masi ever did. The handlebar was taped by Alberto Masi himself.
Some teaser and more to come

Nice pics! Love the depth of field. Did I mention how the composition made the bike look even better?

Original handlebar tape installed by the master himself??!
Heck!, the air in my ALAN's tires was pumped in by Kim Kardashian herself while twerking at the same time.... Blehhh!....
Sorry, I just can't help myself......

i'm sorry, we live in Milano, Italy. it really exists for somebody: my friend's father bought this bike from mr masi himself in the workshop. that's it, believe it or not. the bike is not for sale, then nice stories are for free

Beautiful bike and a great story behind it. Actually, the bar tape is interesting, too. No gum hoods, just expertly wrapped tape. A good durable alternative for people who aren't happy with the replacement hoods we find for sale nowdays. Thanks for sharing with us. I look forward to more pictures.

I don't see it that way. I think the rubber hoods were old, cracked and fell off.

like meeting a star, it can happen if you live in the Bycicles HollywoodLand

then the story adds value to the owner and nobody else, he knows it and he thinks it's enough.

Hey Trialangel, you brought up a GREAT point. Since when did bar tape start at the handlebar plugs and go up??. I tried it a few times as god is my witness I must have wrapped a minimum of 1000 new bike bars in the 70's 80's. But starting at the bottom just looks wrong. Then you get the stupid little adhesive strips that couldn't hold Katiesmalls mouth closed. Why the change, why the bulge where you rest your palms. Some say it lasts longer, but look around at all the 30 year old bikes with original plastic tape. I will never wrap another bar starting at the bottom. Who wants to join me?? We will BE HEARD

Like ^^Ive done it both ways. top down looks better than bottom up. That's how I'll be wrapping my 84 gran crit california model "west coast ayeeayy" maybe I can get a celebrity wrapper... Snoop? Cube? Dre?......does gunnar caylor still live in modesto? He's about the closest thing modesto has seen as far as celebrity frame builders go...I'd like to get my hands on one.
