That's nice work. I cut the crank/ring on my Masi like that and thought I was being original. Cutting off the inner land of the NR ring but doing so while attached to the crank and continuing the cut to mill off the ears on the spiders. They took a deeper cut then I did.

This is the rear bottom bracket on our custom Zona tandem . . . the c/f lugs are drilled (cut out) windows in the c/f lugs.
Rest of the frame is also lugged with cutouts.

I think some drillium applied to your water bottle would be far more of a weight saver, or a good laxative.

Nice looking work though, this fad just predates me by a number of years.

Drillium was very evident starting in the 40's with hot rods. 32 Ford's being the holey grail (pun intended). In truth "Drillium" came from the aircraft industry.
