I was having a conversation with my tri buddy which Robbie and rccardr met at SOTR last year. He was filling me in on the tri bike trend that is happening in our (Richmond VA) area. It seems that the tri people (at least in his club) are going back to the past. They are acquiring old steel frames, souping them up with 1 x modern drivetrains, and having a blast!

In his club there are 1 or 2 Bridgestones and the rest are riding Ironmans. He is picking up a steel frame this weekend and starting the process himself.

Triple man myself. I like the ability to ride in ranges or loops. The one tri I did last year had a hilly bike course. I saw a lot of people struggling to get up some hills. The bad part is I struggle to get up tough hills even with the triple!

"Do not try and climb the hill. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth."
"What truth?"
"There is no hill."
"There is no hill?"
"Then you'll see, that it is not the hill that rises, it is only yourself."

And pull Private B-----o with you. You can roll him down the other side if you want, but get up that --- ---- hill, now!"

Nice, but prompts flashbacks, of a sort....

Time to thank every person that has served our country in some capacity. Without you we would not have the freedom to even discuss bicycles on a message board. You had to put up with real adversity as opposed to which derailleur to put on your bike. I'm sure it made you better in the end, BUT.............

No need, I was well paid: free lodging, food, "crossfit" membership, gym benefits; excellent training in case I need to survive an attack on my home...(got my fields of fire all mapped out).free education about what really bad coffee can taste like, free transportation to many countries, paid vacation, some lifelong friends, familiarity with weapons, shoe polish, hygiene, starch, and many vices which are now habits. On the contrary, I thank YOU.
As an Army guy myself in a combat arms MOS --- i like your analogy --

I learned the phrase "Yankees go home!" in three new languages...
Haven't ridden an RB-1, but love my Ironman.

Well, as someone who has not served in the armed forces, but is a relative of those who have served, I'm pretty confident we owe those who serve the greater debt. Regardless, it's good to know your service was appreciated by both parties.
Now it's time to ride the RB1!
