Once a clyde always a clyde?

I am closing in on that elusive weight loss goal of 199 lbs. Only 5 more to go! I know that once I drop below 200 I will no longer qualify as a clyde, but you are my favorite group! That said, since I was once a clyde, will I still be part of the brother / sisterhood?

I think the rule is, you can still add on to your own posts describing your progress, and you can post a reply to others' threads. But you can't start a new thread saying how slim and trim you are.

Contgratulations on your impending non-clydedom.

Yes, but you must carry extra weight in your jersey pockets.

If you're like me, even if I get below 200 it'll be a constant fight to stay there, so I'll always be a Clyde. I've been stuck at 6'2" and 215 for a while too. I guess I"m just not willing to make the lifestyle changes to shed that last 20 lbs.

Funny post.

I was always a skinny guy (6' 2" & 170 LBS) but as I've gotten older the weight has crept up.

I guess I am now a clyde (205) but I still think of myself as a skinny guy...

First, congratulations! I'm now sub-clyde myself, but I'm short (just a tad over 5'7") so I'm probably fatter than some of the 6' + clydes out there. I still consider myself a clyde in spirit!

I have not been a clyde in size for almost 2 years now...in fact, I was no longer a clyde when I joined this forum... but I still check this subforum and read and comment regularly.... I was a clyde for 40 years and I went thru the weight struggles...so I understand what other folks are going thru. I like to give encouragement and read success stories.

Thanksgiving and Christmas will bring you back to us just you watch ... I started at 220 and dipped down to 183 in a single season. One fated winter later and I emerged from hibernation a 205 and a clyde again. My brother in law yoyo's between 240 and 280 and I've been kicking him in the rear to cycle more as well. My struggle this year continues. Maintenance is the key, you don't consider yourself drug and alcochol free after one week of sobriety. Once a clyde, always a clyde.

Just because a battle has been won doesn't mean you should stop trying. Stick around for the support and encouragement and with some luck you'll become a lean, mean cycling machine someday.

Even if I do manage to reach my sub-200 weight goal, I don't think Father Time is going to succeed in driving my height below 6', so I think I'm a permanent resident here.

It depends upon how far over 6' you are. Father Time can easily make you lose 1-2". More with injuries.

Don't tempt Father Time, he is undefeated.

Well, 49 now.

Trying to keep 500 lb pull, maybe get back up to 550 this winter... Was at 575 and working to 580, but BP disagreed.
Seems my BP likes lower weights, it sure doesn't respond to low sodium and the drugs they gave me were devastating...

In 9th grade football i was the only one on my team that wore adult mens clothes and weighed 200 pounds.

Im 51 now and a muscular 265 lbs ....see where this is going.

Last Sunday i did 50 miles with a Triathlete on my favorite stretch of road and blew his doors.

Top speed was 40 mph and i conquered a giant hill that has taken me 2 years to conquer.

Keep at it! I think the most important thing I gained from getting cycling fit and losing some weight was reduced blood pressure. I still need to drop some more lbs, but my BP is now in safe range for the first time in a number of years.

Congrats!
Thanks for letting us know you made it work!

I'm in the not bad short term, but well data is out about long term ranges. 120's / 90's and Woo Hoo, I've seen resting HR in the mid 60's!!! 20 lower then last year!

I'm no longer a clyde, and have not been since August I think it was. But I still post here, on others' threads.

I thought I'd never get below 200 again, figured I just was a big guy (though only 5'8) and that was that. Well with Myfitnesspal (I used it ALL of the time for the first 8 months, now its just here and there when I remember - my diet is strict so no worries) and changing HOW I approach eating, I've gone from 230+ starting 2014, to 172 or less depends on the day.

What I do know is that short of a medical condition, I'll never physically be a clyde again, because I keep in mind where I came from. Every look in the mirror and comment from people I know solidifies that. Oh, and I feel AMAZING again. I don't feel 32 at all. I feel (honestly) more like 18. Because I was in shape back then Now the thinning hair...

Keep at it! Its so worth it
