In 2017, as a family, we plan to ride a century by the end of the year. I would like to log 2,000 miles for the year and lose 52 lbs.

I barely rode at all over the last two years due to a health concern. This year I want to ride at least as much as 2014. In 2014 while I was ~245 lbs, I rode 2,000km, did 3 centuries, and did a charity ride or two. I'd like to either duplicate that or beat it this year, despite being 30 lbs heavier than 2014.

Work and other issues have kept me from carrying out my goals for 2015 or 2016.
This year I have a very unusual goal. As a new US Citizen (naturalized 1/31) I want to repay this great nation by joining the Navy. However as I just turned 32 and need to lose 100lbs to make weight, I have a lot of work to do before hitting the age 35 limit.
To hit this goal (Which I realize is unlikely to be completed by end of 2017) I am aiming for 2500miles on the bike. I would also like to have at least 75lbs gone by 12/31/17. I have been dabbling with Keto, but not sure that will work out too well when doing a lot of miles.
Wish me luck!

Lose the new-parent weight. Have made a good start on that, need to keep it up.
Get back to riding regularly. I didn't go on a bike tour last year and didn't do that many rides more than half an hour or so. 2017 is gonna be different.

I plan on this being the year I finally push my commuting times into the respectable class. Last year I dogged it and never really improved much from my five-year average. This year, I plan to take it to where I believe it should be.
A few changes include pursuing a better nutritional regimen, putting in more sustained effort and going into it with a lot more desire to hit those targets.

He said NEW goals, not recycled, constantly achieved goals.
I really want to go on another bike vacation this year. Did a week in Tuscany two years ago and that's just good for the soul.
#1 daughter is allergic to hills so we seem to have compromised with a flat area, like say, Loire Valley in France. We'll see if it pans out.

What's the weight limit for your height? Mine was 206 and it was always a struggle. (I just got that off a table, I seem to recall it used to be lower, maybe I'm wrong)
Congratulations and welcome to the nuthouse!

Trying to hit 1000 miles this year, commute to work once a week, and get below 200lbs, target of 195 stretch goal of 185. I hit 199 last week, but went on vacation and came back at 205. If I didn't have other interests, the riding and target goal should be easy. Except I play in a volleyball ball league on Monday's which equals no riding and drinking beer. I am also in a golf league on Tuesdays which equals no riding and drinking beers. So there are 2 setbacks in my goals. Unless I get creative and can find a way to throw some easy or short rides in before either league.
Of course I know there are other days to ride. But then we have to account for kids little league games and other social engagements. I am hoping to schedule creative rides when possible. We shall see what happens.

I was injured for almost all of 2016 and have just been cleared to start back activity. I have no idea if I'll be able to work myself back to full go or not. However, let's pretend I can!
1 - Get to my healthiest bf% that I can maintain.
2 - Work myself up to doing a weekly, before work, 40 miler.
3 - Do one other 20 miler during the same week, possibly it being a commute.
4 - Do a form of exercise 5 days out of a week.
5 - Eat properly

1 - I'm on my way. Up and down but in a good direction. If I don't mess up I'll be where I need to be in 2017.
2 - Just getting back on the bike from injury so I'm not going to push the weekly 40 miler. I'm more interested in consistent riding. If that happens and I feel I can do whatever I want then maybe I'll shoot for that weekly 40 miler.
3 - Again, the injury. I can see this easily becoming a reality if the leg holds up.
4 - Doing it.
5 - Doing it, mostly. Kindof.

Trying to combine both short-term and long-term approaches:
- Ride every single week in 2017. In the northeast US that will be a challenge for January, Feb, March (rain) and again in December. But I wanted something that would keep me on the bike consistently. As of May, I'm on track to complete this. Damn, was it cold in January!
- Work up to a 30, 50, metric century and finally a century ride by Fall. As the owner of 5 knee operations, this will be a big accomplishment (with the aid of synvisc)
- Learn something from every ride. I don't want to just ride, I want to get better. Both solo rides and club rides offer the opportunity to analyze results, listen to others, and get better.
- Become a Ride Leader. In most bike clubs you get out what you put in.

The goal has been revised:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19192705
Flying out June 17th. Riding starts the next day. 14 days on the road. 13 planned days of riding. If weather forces an additional day off early there are a couple of shortish days I can combine to make up time. Plowing of Going to the Sun is going nicely. Keeping my fingers crossed that the west slope will be fully open by June 28th.

I went out for a ride on Sunday. I left the house as a Clydesdale, 50 miles later I wasn't anymore. Left at 200.9 and came home at 199. Unfortunately my neighbor had a cookout and I probably ate and drank my way back into the group.
