300LB+ saddle success?

I am about 330 currently and am going through a test saddle program with my LBS and not having a ton of luck. I ride a 2017 specialized sirrus sport. I am having difficutly finding a saddle that I can go beyond 30 miles in relative comfort. I purchased a Serfas FS-243E with the bike and that was comfortable up to 30 miles but I would get pretty sore beyond that point. That saddle broke and I put the stock saddle back on at that point and have been searching with no luck since. I had my sit bones measured at 128MM. Here is what I have tried so far and my experience.

Serfas FS-243E - Comfortable up to 30 miles

Specialized Canopy (stock saddle) - ass hatchet beyond 5 miles

Cobb Vmax - Might as well be riding a cinder block with seams on the back, totally awful

Specialized Toupe expert Gel 155MM - Uncomfortable after about 5 miles

Specialized Romin Evo 168MM - Better than the Toupe but still uncomfortable at the 8-10 mile mark

The Romin feels like it COULD be a good saddle, but honestly I think I am too heavy for the specialized body geometry saddles. It feels like it fits right but I think I just put too much pressure on too little padding to be comfortable on long rides. It makes sense, I am not their target market and I probably should not expect to be comfortable on a saddle designed for someone 200lbs or less. My LBS is supposed to be getting a Serfas RX road which I have read good things about. I am somewhat curious about Brooks, but I dont know if they have weight limits and I dont know if I can deal with their sensitivity to moisture. I live in southeast Louisiana, and there are months where the amount of rainy days is double the clear days and a shower can pop up at any given second.

What have other 300+ guys been successful with? I feel like I need something between the padding of the first serfas I had which was probably too much, and the almost no padding of the specialized seats.

I ride the Specialized Toupe expert Gel 155MM

love it. When I did my fitting I had my rear measured and they suggested 3 seats, found this one just right.

Have you had your sit bones measured? A good starting point might be knowing what width you need

Yeah I had my LBS measure me at 128mm. The romin felt like it fit me well but after a while on it I get uncomfortable from what feels like too much pressure on my sit bones. No numbness or sharp pains but after 10 miles I want to get off the bike. I feel like since I could go comfortably for 30 miles on my first saddle, I should be able to go that far or further with little to no discomfort on whatever saddle I'm going to fork out quite a bit of money for. I feel like the romin would probably be a great saddle for me if I weighed 250.

Went to the lbs at lunch today and talked to them. They want me to try the specialized lithia in 155mm. Don't know how I feel about a woman's saddle, but it is definitely more padded and if it's comfortable I guess it doesn't matter.

What about just getting another Serfas FS-243E?

Sounds like it was the right fit.

With the serfas I was getting some foot numbness and at 30 miles I started to really feel the discomfort from what I assume is too big and too much padding. I really want to start to push some farther rides and want to get up to 50-60 miles. The only thing holding me back is the saddle. I THINK the correct answer lies somewhere in between. Something designed like a road saddle but with more padding and support.

If I exhaust my options and still not happy I probably will go back to the serfas, I just believe that something better is out there.

I am going through the same thing right now. I am about 20#s heavier than you and my sit bones are wider at 150mm. I am on my 4th saddle right now, Selle SMP TRK. I will ride it for the first time in the morning, hoping to be at least 30miles 35+ would be great.

I've seen some large riders that have gotten that seat but no verdict on it. It looks interesting but I don't think my LBS can get that brand and I have a $100 deposit paid on their saddle test program already

I think I may have found the correct saddle. Just rode 33 miles on the 155mm lithia and had almost no saddle discomfort and am not sore at all now. Hopefully this saddle will let me concentrate on fitness now cause I bonked pretty hard at about the 26 mile mark (it got so hot, I should have started earlier)

I may be mistaken on my numbers but sit bones measurement of 128 there is no way a 168 saddle would be comfortable. if you take 128 and add 20-30 mm that means max 158, so a 155 sounds correct. Dont get hung up on mans or womans, there are plenty of guys out there that ride womans saddles. Womans saddles are generally shorter than mens, which is consistent with the Serfas thing you were riding.

Okay so I wrote all that before I scrolled down and read that you had already tried the Lithia. Good luck oh and 26 mile or so sounds about right for the bonk if your not taking on any calories during the ride.
