Ok, here are the results through 5/26. I have not heard from a couple of folks, but that might be due to the holiday. Just let me know when you can. Nice job everyone, we had 8218.6 miles for the month. That's pretty good for a couple of fat guys eh????

I ended up not doing the 70-miler. Instead I did a 40-minute criterium. We did about 16-miles. I came in 17th (out of maybe 70 riders ?). I have to work on my sprint and my spinning. My sprint: my gearing is too big and I can't accelerate with them. I get a good finishing speed, but too late. My spinning: I don't do it automatically...I have to consciously remind myself to gear down and increase cadence. I'll see what I can do.

Get into the habit of riding in a lower gear to keep that cadence high. Do short burst sprints on the little ring, say about third gear to run that cadence up to the point your butt starts bouncing in the saddle and then grab a shift to the Big ring and run the cadence up again. This is to work on that explode out of the hole fast twitch muscles. Try to get to where you have the aerobic base to hold a 110 cadence and explode from there.....

Not bad though and it sounds like you are doing good self analysis.

Another thing you can do is explosive fast lifts on a leg press at your body weight. Just don't clang the plates on the downstroke!

Roger, good luck Tom and ride safe. Hopefully you will have better weather than we are going to have this weekend. Tropical Storm and the rain moving in. I'm not really too upset, we need rain bad so getting a couple of days of rain is going to be welcomed.

OK, Got everyone so far. I had a server fail yesterday and spent all day fixing, good thing it rained all day yesterday, made not riding easier.

181 miles for the week ending 6/3. Time was 9:45.

Had some great rides this week - a crazy ass ride on Thursday where we were motopaced by a guy on a motorcycle (look in the race forum for "Thursday Shelling"), and a fantastic 75 mile ride today where we rode down to the state championship course and scouted it out. I feel great, legs feel strong, and as long as the taper goes well next week I think I'll be ready to play come next Sunday.
