Hi Faith1st, welcome to the club, and to bicycling. I am sure you are gonna have a good time.

That is a really nice bike you have there! My girlfriend was getting jealous of my biking and weight loss, so I took her to the LBS and told her to pick out a bike with the salesperson. She picked the Trek 7100 (non wsd) and except for the frame style, it is just like yours! And she loves it!

Now, get out there and do some riding. Be safe.

6 days=6miles!!! and it felt great........wooooooohooooooooo!!! Imagine how much fun it will be when it's warm enough to get out of my living room! I am going for 1 mile TWICE A DAY next week!! I am so excited!!

Get a local map or mapping software and see if there is anyplace interesting near you. I bet there are all sorts of places withing 20mi that you did not know existed. Then decide if biking there is practical and safe.

Better idea....Gmaps pedometer, it's based off of Google maps and is free with no download required. You can even get high resolution satellite views to assess the road visually and it also profiles the terrain with both topographic mapping and a terrain profile graph available as well as an elapsed mileage for the projected route.
