Will this frame support a 280lb rider?

The frame is aluminum, so I'm not too worried about the frame, but instead I'm worried about the seatpost and fork —*both carbon. Will these support me?

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=320171344464

I'm 280lbs and am probably going to collect parts all winter for a spring road bike. I'll be riding all winter on my Cross Check so maybe I'll be lighter haha. Just looking for a frame to start with.

Thanks

That seatpost is a bad idea, especially if he's been clamping it!

Also, I'd be more worried about the frame than the fork.

325lbs, carbon seatpost, no problems here (took a bit of tinkering to stop it sliding down, though).

I wouldn't worry about that clamp on that post, as that isn't the Park clamp that can damage a carbon fiber frame or seatpost. That's more of a improved vise, just hope the seller isn't a gorilla. Never worry about a frame holding you, the wheel set bears that load.

Interesting to hear that. I'm not an official clyde but I've cracked 2 frames. Yet my wheels have been fine.

For the OP it's better to sacrifice a frame to the weight-loss gods than to not try.

A 280 lb. rider on a 295 gram fork! Eeeek! Check with the manufacturer and they will tell you the same thing.
