Well it happened.....I got something thrown at me today......

Well I have read the horror stories and I finally was a victim of the idiocy that is todays word. All I can say is thank God it was just a cup that was pretty empty. It hit me on the arm and nocked my bike computer off, but otherwise did not phase me or make me fall. Matter of fact I was proud that it did not seem to effect me at all. The car was going kinda of slow until I starting speeding up and I did get part of the License plate. Went to the police station and talked with the Police (not the band) they said they would send an email to all the officers to look out for the car, but other than that nothing unless I was hurt or there was damage. This on the heels of two cyclists being run over last Sunday morning by an idoit driving home drunk from a bachelor party. What makes me mad is that we live in a society were someone has to a physical or property lose before something is done. Oh well be safe everyone.

Wow! a half filled cup (or was it half empty?), some fries and in my case two months ago, a small jar of mayonase (ha, they missed!). We're gonna have the makings of a sandwich soon.

Actually it was 8:30am the dude had been out all night drinking. The bikers were hit from behind by a Lincoln Navigator. It was instant, so at least they did not suffer. But the dude was out on bail the next day. It's just sad.

Try a Cheeto hitting you in the face from a moving car going 40+. Left a welt.

I had 2 guys in a construction truck pulled along side me and squirt water out of a water bottle on me. The water was warm and I was just thanking God it was water.

It a sad commentary on society, when you are considered foolish for doing a legal activity, because it puts you at risk, against an illegal, but all too common activity. The fact there are still drunk drivers, after all the years of publicity against it, shows that people are not getting smarter. Also means the penalties for drunk driving are no where near severe enough. I have long thought that driving under the influence should mean that your driving permit should be suspended for a period of not less then 5 years, after which your driving record is erased. After your record is erased, you can apply for a learners permit, and go through the whole process again. Driving while you license is suspended, should be punishable by not less then a $25,000 fine AND one year in jail, plus the clock is reset on your suspension (meaning if it's in the fourth year of a 5 year suspension, you start all over again at another 5 years being suspended).

However I think the only solution for drunk drivers, is to make cars illegal....

All too true for more than just drunk driving. Sad that people consider somethings perfectly acceptable till it directly affects them. Not till then do they realize it's a NoNo!

Still...you need to be caught in the act and or have a boatload of witnesses...like someone said earlier, you just about have to be killed or maimed for anything to be done.

so far i have been lucky... the worst ive had thrown at me is words. this one time it was kinda funny because it was at night and i had all my night time gear on/going, my orange reflective vest, my led head light (flashing) and my led tail light (also flashing) and this group of "kids" were drinking on the front porch of this house and one of them yelled, "hey bright much? i can see you from like a mile away dude" and i just rode on... and i heard one of his friends say, "i think thats the point you moron." hehe.

but yeah, im just waiting to get something "real" thrown at me. i hope its chocolate.

Yuck! Eat something that probably lived in the front seat of a pickup truck?!? Not bloody likely!

I had a bag of fast food trash thrown at me a couple of weeks ago and a cop saw them do it. They got a $500 ticket for littering and I was told recently, a ticket for endangering a non-motorized vehicle or something like that. Another $129.00. Then last year, I had a beer bottle thrown at me.

I had a couple "good-ole-boys" nail me right in the small of my back with a half empty beer bottle. Fortunately it was a glancing blow and only left a small bruise.

I called *hp on the cell (aka the highway patrol). They could could have cared less, without an actual "accident" complete with witnesses they don't act. If the general public at large ever actually figures out how much they can get away with (with respect to attacking bikers) it's going to be a bad day for a lot of us.

Honest to God, if you ever want to kill or hurt someone just get them alone on a bike. Run slap over them and just tell the authorities a bee flew into your car.

Whats ironic about the whole thing is where I live, if you throw an object at a moving automobile it is a felony punishable by jail time and the police WILL enforce it. I haven't had an incident with someone throwing something at me yet so I don't know how serious the police would take that here.

I wish I could shoot back. My personal feeling is that IF I AM ATTACKED WITH A DEADLY WEAPON,IT'S MY RESPONSABILITY TO DEFEND MYSELF just because some idiot gets a wild hair up his culo a decides to "mess" with a biker. Than that biker should be able to grab that moron and slap the taste out of his mouth. I don't want to be a hood ornament. If someone driving a car has no concern for my safety and is going to keep me from watching my kids grow up, than who cares what happens to them, they don't care what happens to me.

Something is inherently wrong when the fine for the endangerment aspect is less than the fine for littering. (for some reason Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant just started playing in my mind)
