Clyde Forum Weight rules
As I increase my mileage and (hopefully) loose weight i don't want to run the risk of getting booted off this forum. I don't "fit" in any of the other forums. the road cyclists take this equipment thing all too seriously. As a former runner all I ever worried about was whether my shoes fit! I do see my goals as somewhat beyond recreational: respectable century times for someone 60+, 100 miles/week, etc. and I'm looking for older, competitive folks to cycle with (or younger slow guys). So currently at 6' and 215 pounds I'm definitely on the mini-Clyde side, but I could easily eat enough junk to stay above 200 if that what it takes to stay in this forum. In my late 30's I was pretty respectable in the marathon at somewhere between 190 and 195 lbs. so I'm never going to be a lightweight in my dottage. Comments welcome.

Don't sweat it. I was a mini-Clyde once myself and still participate here.

Thanks, all for the thumbs up.
10 Wheels, I'm in Hollister, CA, 50 miles south of San Jose California. This is an ag valley but with longer distance commuters as well. Some nice rides, but being in a valley does have its limitations; some great climbs that end at ranch gates for example. I'm going to clean up my adult son's mountain bike so I can also get off road, but need to get in good shape as the parks around here are all in the surrounding hills. BTW, a 3000 ft. "hill" doesn't sound like much, but we're basically at sea level in the valley. There is an LBS and I'm going to try and hook up with the folks who ride out of there, but this is a small community and I see few recreational bicylists. Don't mind riding solo, but based on my past running life I'd push harder in a group.

1 - Tom will make an emeritus certificate if you get below 200 pounds, and you're still welcome here.
2 - A 3000 hill climb is friggin' ridiculous. Yes, it does sound like a lot, even to those of us who do lots of hill climbing.
3 - I read the title with totally different emphasis, and in my mind it sounds like "Clyde forum weight RULES!"

Yeah, don't worry about it. There's no reason to be pigeonholed into one forum, either. I normally scan through several of them. About 90% of the stuff in the road forum isn't of interest to me, but there's some that is, and similar in some of the other forums.

If you're 6 feet then you're considered a Clyde by these forum rules. See the thread I started here and the response from the moderator. Go ahead, feel free to lose more weight :-) I myself started around 230 and am now around 195.

Excerpt from Cervelo owner's manual:
"H. Maximum Weight
Cervélo frames have been designed and tested to withstand very high loads, and as a result we have not traditionally assigned maximum weight restrictions for our frames."
That's right. Cervelo is Clyde friendly. The only weight restrictions they mention are on the components, not the frame.

Hey now, play nice... especially when it comes to Cervelo.

The only Cervelo I would personally really consider owning would be an RS. If they offer their super-special employee pricing again this year, I may have to swallow my pride and do it.

I've hit Emeritus status a while back and nobody says a peep to me when I post. I have some tough days and I come here and it motivates me to see people working hard to reach their goals.

Once a Clyde/Athena, always a Clyde/Athena. In spirit anyway.
Heck, even if a person has never been a Clyde/Athena and just likes the group, it's cool. We take all kinds, Roadies, MTB'ers, Unicyclist, Commuters, Circus High Wire cyclists, etc, etc.

I'm down close to 300 pounds from six years ago, so I'm normally a former-Clyde. My weight does fluctuate from time to time though. I love to follow this forum and see how everybody is doing. I don't normally post my riding accomplishments here though because I don't want to mislead anybody that I could have ridden 8K miles a year, or 25 centuries, when I weighed 475 pounds
I started riding when I got down to around 250 though, so the riding definitely helped me on the last leg of my weight-loss journey.
