Already posted on the Commuter forum but thought I'd share here as well. While not very long ( 2.4 round trip) decided I could easily pack more miles / week if I simply ride to work. It was really quite easy and if I do it at least 3 x a week (estimated for weather issues) that's and easy 7.2 miles per week on top of whatever else I do. I know eventually I will take longer routes as I get faster. I'm just tickled to get a quick pump in the morning. On top of that it will be far less convenient to run to the nearest fast food joint for lunch. That way I am forced to take lunch with me,so it is easier to make good food choices. All in all a great day and found I had more energy at the office.

Great job, keep it up. I also have a short commute and find that it's faster to bike to work than drive.

great job i did my first commute 2 weeks ago (9 miles one way) i have rode this commute a few days a week for the past 2 weeks. it is a great feeling to ride to work and a easy way to increase you weekly mileage.

keep up the good work it wont be long and you will be adding miles on the way home just for fun!

I realized last week that we have a corporate membership with a Carshare organization, and the car is literally parked outside my office window. It rarely is out on trips. It's potentially a sweet deal - CarShare bills my employer directly, so I do not have to submit receipts for anything, plus this car has AC.

Most of the time I've been driving to work due to work-related travel during the day, this may free up many days for bike commuting.
