I finally did it. made my first commute today.

had a great ride in this morning. a mild 65 degrees with a slight sprinkle of rain. 9 miles in 45 minutes. i plan to start commuting a few days a week. i have been riding 60 - 90 miles a week in the afternoons for exercise. hopefully i can combine my exercise with my commute and have a little more time at home in the evenings.

Keep it up. I think you will find that your commute is a great way to get in a regular exercise ride. Worked for me.

thanks it was a little tough. i normally do not eat until i get to work and have a bowl of oats but i was feeling a little weak about half way to work. i had a banana before i left but i guess that wasnt enough. i had brought a little energy drink with me and used half when i got tired but that made me shakey when i got to work. i guess a little better planning next time will be needed.

Yeah, you gotta work stuff out. That's the easy part. Just keep at it, it will come.

Good for you for starting. I like the idea that my commutes actually save time over having to get exercise some other way in addition to getting to work and back.

9 miles in 45 min. is a pretty good first time commute.

Sounds like it will be fairly easy for you to continue commute cycling if you are already doing 60-90 miles per week.

You just have to get use to riding, first thing in the morning.

Nice job! It takes a week or two to get your routine and gear down, it will get easier. Grats on your first day!

I used to make every day about beating the previous days time, after about two months I started figuring out that I wasn't enjoying the ride as much. Now I just ride, if I get the bug for speed on a morning or afternoon, I kick it up and see how fast I can get home (or in if I'm feeling really froggy, but that's rare in the morning). Most morning I get deep into my audiobook and just make the cranks go till I end up at work.

If you are hard-core Southern, and I mean country with a K, those would be beaten biscuits. And pig meat.

Please stop! The thought of anything made with bacon grease give me high blood pressure. Keep on riding Brandon. Your arteries will love you.
