I finally got around to unpacking a camera. Here is the new bike, my tiny Cannondale Quick 4:
I spent a pretty penny on the bags, but they are expandable upwards enough to carry my scope and my tripod. They also are waterproof. Being able to carry equipment makes it more likely I will bike more.
I broke another "longest ride" record, riding 11 miles in one trip this morning. It was a great ride, on a paved country road, rolling hills but not too tough. I didn't have to walk any but I sure couldn't spin to the top. In 11 miles only one vehicle passed me. Sunday morning quiet! For the first time ever I could feel my legs when I got off the bike. My engine is improving!
This bike fits me 100 times better than the prior bike. The only issue I am having is that even though I don't have quite 50 miles on it yet the derailleurs already need adjusting. By the end of my ride my bottom gear is no longer available. Also, my prior experience with other bikes is that on the middle chain ring you could use all gears on the rear cassette without a cross chaining problem. On mine the bottom two gears are not available.

It sounded like you had to travel to get this bike - is it a fair distance to go back for the adjustments? It would definitely be worth it. Of course if the distance to drive does not warrant the "free" adjustment, perhaps there is a more local shop willing to do it low cost in exchange for you becoming a "regular".

Meh, I am out in the boonies right now in northern Minnesota. I bought the bike in Minneapolis and will be traveling through there again in a couple of weeks. I'll have them check it out when I am going through town. They did offer the free tuneup.
