Honestly.... if neither of you can let it slowly recede into dim memory, then your marriage isn't going to stand the test of time. How will you ever have trust in each other to weather serious problems? Without a change of heart, I can't see the relationship surviving a relatively minor problem like a two-month cashflow problem caused by lack of communication and both of you spending the same money from a shared account, much less something truly serious.
I highly recommend marital counseling. There are problems that have nothing to do with trees and bicycles.

I started to tell my wife about this and the moment I mentioned the title she said, "You don't need to tell me anymore. We both know who is to blame."

Your fault. You led her onto a trail that was above her comfort zone. You would have been better off to slow down to a crawl prior to the pinch point and roll through very slowly, and allow her all the time she needed to get through. From your description, she was last and perhaps felt hurried going through. Your fault all the way, even if her lack of spacial reference contributed. You are supposed to know her and protect her. You failed, and miserably. Then you didn't assume responsibility. Man up.
