Well, for some reason this month work keeps getting in the way.......not going to make goal unless I superglue my butt to the bike............will keep working on it though, one never knows what can happen between now and the 31st.

Took yesterday off due to weather forecast and it helps to have a rest day every now and then. +11 today including a three mile time trial where I beat my 16 yo son by well over a minute. Not too shabby for a 48 yo fat guy.

How is commuting working out for you? I took a commuting class last night and learned a lot even though I have been commuting for a while. It's great to see what everyone has as far as equipment.

Where can one find a commuting class? I really did not want to ride in the fog today... almost brought the bike to work so I could ride home, but going to go long hopefully tomorrow...

Almost broke the Century for the month.... less than a mile to go to reach a hundred... pretty psyched about this... a whole new way of life for me!

It's nice, a great way to start and end the work day. I could be a bit more prepared/organized about it, but my ride's only a few miles each way so I don't sweat it too much. I tend to cram the day's work clothes into a back pack, leave work shoes at the office, pack small lunches 50% of the time which adds to the cram, and try to keep the bike well lit and visible, especially in the mornings. I'm considering panniers and a rack for some longer summer rides, so that may streamline things with the commute and take some weight off my back once the heat really gets up there this summer.

Russ: I agree about the fog but one thing the fog tells you is that there is NO wind!

I usually take my glasses off and ride when it is foggy. I use two lights, one on the bars and one on the helmet. The helmet one is a little problematic because it cuts right into the fog. Do not be affraid of the fog, it is actually nice to ride in.

When you are ready to get panniers, let me know. I can help you out there. The ortliebs are the best, hands down and I have a friend that sells them a little cheaper then most places.

I find that I need to be orgnaized and pack the night before AND lay my clothes out in the order I put them on. No thinking involved! (or shall I say I cannot think cause it is so early in the morning when I leave! )

You will love getting the weight off your back. I had that issue too. Thank goodness for the panniers!
